Exclamation Where's the love?

Are there any other philanthropists out there? I don't know about you guys, but I have no problem giving away minor gear to other players. If I am not using a rare green or even blue item anymore, I would rather help out a fellow Seeker (as the oracle names us) than pad my coin purse by a few more drachmas. Don't get me wrong, if we were playing Monopoly I'd have you all living in cardboard boxes along Baltic and Mediterranean by now! But that's not what TQ is all about.

Yesterday, I had the unfortunate experience of trading with some 'people' (and I do use that term very loosely) online. For those of you old enough to watch R-rated movies, I felt like Ned Beatty in Deliverance. I could've sworn I heard one player gleefully say to himself that I "had a purty mouth". Just because I need one or two items, they think I'm gonna give my left arm and my first born? I had players level 25-55 joining my game demanding purples for Theban items. Whether they are using the Vault or actually carrying a lousy (to them) Theban item through Epic & Legendary I don't know. One player wanted a +STR ring and I was willing to part with my prized Robust Ring +20%STR (remember I'm only level 15). He/she laughed. I know its not a Hale ring, but 20% is still pretty good (I've only seen as high as 24% on Hale).

Now, not everyone is bad. One guy traded me a blue spear for blue axe straight up, no regard to stats (he didn't use spears, I don't use axes). Another guy was willing to trade a whole Troy set for my Theban Cuirass. A trade so beyond belief, except that I can't use Troy for at least another 10 lvls worth of STR pts and thats IF I devote every attribute pt to STR and every skill pt to mastery to get STR.

Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree here. I've seen several posts from different members offering items to new players on this forum. And I'm not living in a fantasy land where it rains powerful blues and purples from the tops of Olympus (although if you count Typhon runs, it kinda does). But for the weakest blues in the game, the ones that are bested by most green items? And for all of us who are still playing on Normal level, where's the love?

I agree with you completely. I only go online to shop and trade some of the items I've accumulated. I am pretty much willing to give it away, especially if my char can't use it, but when you find something you could use it always seems like they want better or more stuff for their one item. It is rather disappointing. Diablo II wasn't a whole lot better, but the interface seemed to be a lot better.

Thumbs up Re: Where's the love?

Found the love! From a suggestion on another post, I used TQ.net as my game name. I hosted a game on regular TQ MP called TitanQuest-net (cant use a period). I had people coming in and out, all very helpful, asking if they can do boss runs before they ran ahead and killed everything, and asking players what they items they needed. Then 4 other players (5 including myself) just GAVE stuff away!

THIS is the MultiPlayer experience I have been longing for. Before you sell your lesser blues off to the vendor ask around. Someone is bound to need it! You trash is another man's treasure! Huzzah to the people on TQ.net!

I got a nice replacement ring and or amulet for strength if you want it. But it'll cost you the complete Conqueror's Set.

Just kidding... you can have it for free! I have extras...

Have you forgotten you own post?
I shall quote you:
"...One player wanted a +STR ring and I was willing to part with my prized Robust Ring +20%STR (remember I'm only level 15). He/she laughed. I know its not a Hale ring, but 20% is still pretty good (I've only seen as high as 24% on Hale)."

I was merely offering to replace your prized Robust Ring since I had extra.

Oh, got it thanks! Yeah, I'm a bit tired and wasnt reading well. I have the old ring thanks, I never traded it away. Thanks for the offer though. I was simply referencing the arrogance of some traders out there. Not any TQ.net people mind you, everyone I've met on TQ.net has been great!

For me it totally depends on how people are behaving. I'm sorry but if someone is begging for stuff I don't give them ****. Mainly because I don't want to put up with them and I don't want to encourage them to beg.

I go on typhon runs with people all the time and give them all sorts of stuff. I stopped carrying things unless I really need them anymore and I'll leave the purples on the ground now just because I've got too much crap and don't have the room to store all the useless junk I can't use.

So there are times in which I am very generous and others in which I'm a tight *** prick. Mostly it depends on how you approach me. If you really want to trade for something that I don't need but don't have anything I need I'll often give it to you for nothing, but at least make the attempt to make a reasonable offer or effort to get it yourself.

As a joke, my cousin created a server called 'please help me T_T' and set the difficulity to normal. The only catch is, she's level 58. Alot of people came in, ranging from 14-35 but they didn't seem very happy when they saw her level.

So then she created a proper server on Legendary, a farm run starting from Wusao Mountain portal to typhon. Then a lvl 64 Champion with 15k DPS (or so he says), creates her a portal to the telkine, 1-shots the poor blue blob, then proceeds to annihilate everything on Olympus. Took 4 shots at most and typhon's dead. After that, he just gave her a whole bag load of legendaries, including a tartarus piece and a mark of Ares, before vanishing away.

She was like, uhh...wtf just happened?
