Caster Gear - Sucky?

As a 61 evoker, I've been constantly buying green staves off of the market and putting in Achilles/Prometheus. I have *yet* to find a decent stave through 61 levels. I did get Prakopios (blue) a long time ago, but I am fire based.

Are there no *really* good purple staves? Looking at Banshee, the purple staves available (even in IT) are trash compared to my Brimstone (base 176 damage, +26% fire, +27 fire, +40% IAS Prometheus). My DPS with this staff is roughly 3,200 (buffed). Since you can edit greens with Achilles/Prometheus, why even hunt for purples? They all suck in comparison.

Am I missing something?

DPS wise nothing can match a good green with a relic. The purple staves can have a lot of other good bonuses like resistances. I'm using a green too.

What do you mean by mage armor/set thing? That set items are worse than non set items?

Just seems ***-backwards for the purpose of having Purples be the best in the game. Even with resistances (nothing hits me).

Well the point is purples AREN'T and shouldnt always be the best items in the game, that makes it so there are some items even harder to get than purples because of the mods, its just another good element in the game. Such as those crazy *** gorgon cuffs posted a while ago with a prefix of 40 ias. Those are worth at least a few good purples . And the reason casters don't have gear thats seemingly just as good as melee characters, which when you look at from the correct point of view it is anyways, is because of the fact that a well built caster is INSANE even without good gear.
