On the system I use (win2000) where the TQ and TQIT are installed, there's no way to run TQvault since 1.13. So I've installed it on a Windows XP, where it can run. Now, in this Windows XP there's no TQ installed, but I have a network share to "My documents\My Games" from the win2000. Is it possible, instead of automatically trying to find the directory on which the needed resources for the program are loaded, to provide a TQvault.ini file? I mean, so that we could configure the directories that have to be accessed. If this TQvault.ini wasn't present, then the program would behave its normal way (like it is now). Thanks ![]() Edit: the error I get is exactly this: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at TQVault.Data.get_TQVaultSaveFolder() at TQVault.Data.GetVaultList() at TQVault.MainForm.GetVaultList() at TQVault.MainForm... at wWinMain(HINSTANCE__*hInstance, HINSTANCE__*hprevInstance, Char*lpCmdLine, Int32 nCmdShow) Last edited by lufe; 02-05-2008 at 12:26 PM. @Batman: Make sure the window title bar says "TQVault 2.14.2955.etc" like it does in I_Raps screenshot.
@lufe: So...on win2k you have both games installed but get that error? So you have to run it on XP instead? I'm not seeing anything obvious that would cause that error but in some future version I can put a little more debugging in there to help track it down. But anyway, I think EJFudd is working on making an ini file which *might* have stuff like that in it.

So, forgetting W2K, the case I have is: TQ and TQIT are installed on w2k, TQVault 2.12 is installed on w2k (and works fine). TQVault 2.14 is installed on WinXP and this WinXP has no TQ or TQIT installed, but it has a share to the w2k directories where "My Documents\My Games" are, and ALSO a share to the w2k directories where TQ and TQIT are installed. I mapped both of them so that TQVault has all files that it needs. Now, I suppose that you search automatically for the place where TQ, TQIT and the My Games\My Documents are. What I wanted was to point manually to them as an option (i.e., if the variables are set on the .ini file, don't try to automatically find them on the registry or something similar that must be done now). Thanks ![]() PS: The results I have on w2k were after doing all I could to install 2.14, and after using depends2.2 and tweaking all that I could, so I believe it's basically not possible to do it (hence trying the winXP solution with links to the w2k directories). btw: nice work so far 2nd btw: does anybody know of any rule of thumb regarding the seed, aka which seed gives good stats? High numbers? Prime numbers? Anything else? Last edited by Arminia; 02-05-2008 at 02:54 PM. |

@lufe: Oh I see now. You can blame the upgrade to 2.0 on EJ
Though 2.0 does simplify programming a lot.@Arminia - it is on "the list" but not nearly as simple as completion bonuses due to the sheer number of affixes. And there is no good rule of thumb on the seed. It is effectively random. I am pretty sure that somewhere (I've not found it--it could be in the code instead of the database) is a table of adjustments. When an item is loaded, the RNG is seeded with the itemSeed then, for each attribute on the item, a random number is generated and the table used to generate a +/- adjustment to the attribute.
