I wanted to make the people feel good. I did not know that I had taken the 100th post spot. And, you've got to admit, it is beautiful.

Question Re: TQVault 2.14 Released

Hi guys

Quick question...

If I backed up my character \SaveData file from the C:\Documents and Settings\Roland\My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest

And copied the complete TQVault folder

Installed TQ/IT on a new comp, pasted the \SaveData to a new \SaveData folder and pasted the TQVault folder in a new folder

But did all this on the C: drive instead of the D: drive where TQ was previously installed.

Would I have my TQVault stash?

Basically what would be the best/safest way to backup my TQVault so as to move my game to a new comp and a different drive?

Thx

The more current (though still a bit old) thread for TQVault is here.

To transfer your vaults you just need to copy your vault folder to your new computer. Version 2.15 has the ability to set the vault path so you can actually put the vaults files in a different folder structure if you like.
Also keep in mind that 2.14 was still able to use a shortcut to set the vault path so if you used that feature you will need to move your files from that location too.

The vaults are simple to move, copy/paste and voilá, can't go wrong...

Caravan stuff is more dangerous though, I advice emptying them before moving any characters...

My problem is that after the welcome screen, I click "enter the vault" and get an error message:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID
{C79671D7-8103-4EAB-B443-5043AACED4A0} failed due to the following error: 80040154.

at TQVault.MainForm..ctor()
at wWinMain(HINSTANCE__* hInstance, HINSTANCE__* hprevInstance, Char* lpCmdLine, Int32 nCmdShow)

I'm running TQ:IT on Windows XP and I installed the VC 2008 Package.

I'm hoping you can give me an idea of what the problem might be?
TQVault sure sounds like it will make things a lot easier... considering I'm a Pack rat.

I also encountered this problem when I copied TQVault 2.11/2.12 to another PC (without installing TQVault using the installer)

Turned out the target PC needs a VXPLib.dll file that was installed on the original PC (in Windows\System32\ directory). So I just copied over the VXPLib.DLL from the original PC to the target PC. Then I run "regsvr32 vxplib.dll" to register the dll to the Windows registry. TQVault now also runs fine on the target PC.

Nice program but these "cheat" options...can be disabled in next hardcore releases or something? I don't think I can resist

Actually with 2.15 you can disable the "cheat" options. There are separate configuration items to turn off item copying and editing which disables completion bonus selection and set completion. By default both of these are enabled.
