Post Sales chart stuff

FWIW, I was fishing around GameDaily BIZ in their Top 10 PC Game sales charts.

It entered the charts about July 1 at #3:
http://biz.gamedaily.com/charts/?id=238

Had its last week July 29 at #10:
http://biz.gamedaily.com/charts/?id=247

Or you can view the Top 20 for the month of July where Titan Quest was #7:
http://biz.gamedaily.com/charts/?id=256

This is just US/Canada sales, AFIK.

I always though the lists would be more meaningful if they weeded out the umpteen Sims 2 expansions, monthly fee games and kid's games. Back in the old days you'd see stuff like Barbie: Magic Hair Curler and Half Life 2 on the same sales chart.

What scares me is that WoW still is on first place after 2 years... That my grandmother knows what it is scares me even more...

wow for example wich is an mmo force people to buy it legit right? singleplayer games can easily downloaded/pirated. So that list is not accurate in ANY way. (when considering actually people playing using the product)

now, im not saying WoW isnt a good game... but is it really that much better play than all the others, or is it the fantasy realm. you do know blizzard pretty much ripped off Games Workshops' Warhammer:Fantasy to create Warcraft 1-3 and WoW. At first I thought they licensed it, but theres no copyright references anywhere.

Warhammer no more owns the concept of quarreling elves, dwarves, humans and orcs than WoW does... or Tolkien did. Those things belong to centuries old myths, from another continent to boot.

Does WoW deserve to sell so many copies? Well, if people didn't think so, they wouldn't buy it in droves, and there wouldn't be three bazillion servers to play on. Personally, I find it an extreme improvement over the other levelling-style MMOs (both in style and gameplay) - even two years old as it is. I've never felt it tops the skill-based, more RP-friendly games, and it's by no means my favorite MMO of the last decade... yet it's WoW I still subscribe to, it's still the 'it' game right now.

To the OP: I don't see how weeding out games you don't like from a list of top sales would make said list of top sales more meaningful. It would, however, make it less accurate, and therefore, useless.

I meant specifically in their depictions, not the mythos. Maybe they just hired some artists from GW on their dev team.

I have to agree with MB here, it's the way those fantasy races are depicted in that was lifted from GW's themes, especially the dwarves with their semi-tech in a purely fantasy world.
