Almost everyone (~70%) of all users use Windows XP x64 :P haha, donät worry about the OS, it depends on what grapic card u use, or what kind of processor.. And various stuffs like that, if it's a new computer, u should'nt worry. ^^ haha.

Running TQ on XP 64-bit will probably have TQ suffer even more in the performance area.

I dual boot with XP32bit and XP64 bit. The game seems to lag quite a bit under XP64 bit and I had to turn most settings down to medium. I have everything set to high on the XP32bit side with no slowdown.

I attribute it to the drivers on XP64 not being as robust as the 32bit counterparts... Hopefully things will be better once the XP64bit drivers mature a bit...

here's a machine we have played TQ on quite a bit that runs 64-bit Windows XP (however it is a very new platform that most won't have yet)

DFI Infinity NF Ultra II-M2 (Socket AM2)
AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ (2400Mhz / 1MB L2 per core)
2x1GB OCZ Gold GX PC8000 DDR2 (1000Mhz)
Chaintech 6600GT PCI-E 16x 128MB - Nvidia 91.31 drivers
Hitachi SATA II 80GB hdd
OCZ Powerstream 520w psu
Thermalright XP-120 heatsink + 120mm fan
Integrated (motherboard) sound (Realtek ALC850)
Windows XP Pro 64-bit
Norton Corp. 10.1 Anti-Virus
Viewsonic VA1912wb widescreen LCD @ 1440x900 resolution
full windows updates

zero problems at all with 1.08 patch (v1.11 is unstable on all of our machines compared to 1.08 so we have not tried v1.11 on this particular setup)

The game plays extremely well, though some of the graphics options had to be set to Medium (shadow quality to Low since it is only a lowly 6600GT 128MB / 128-bit video card) and Anti-Aliasing to off before it would run super smooth.

Game at these settings still looks excellent other than the ugly shadows (wish we could turn these completely off as it would truly boost performance on an extremely large number of lower-class video card setups).

Windows XP 64-bit seems to play a bit smoother (less hiccup-lag during disk writes which seemingly occur every 3 seconds but that is why no matter when you crash you start in the exact place you were when it crashes) than 32-bit, and this is mostly true in any game that has no issues with 64-bit XP.

I'd like to see some info to back that up. I don't know anyone personally that uses windows XP64, seeing as how unstable it was and all the problems it had. I don't even see the point.

I have an AMD 64 x2 4400 and I've never installed W64 so far because I heard and read so much about older games not working properly ...a nice fast desktop is no good to me if I can't play my games
