Just tried this. I think my sound is clearer but not 100% sure. I can't recall if I had much sound stutter before anyway.

I'm using the Realtek sound drivers ver 3.88 for the ALC850 sound hardware on my Asus A8n32-sli mainboard.

The files that I've included in the RAR are the ones that made the difference for me.

I experimented around a little with a few different file versions etc. and found that these ones worked.
Some didn't... and resulted in no sound, worse sound (God forbid) or... well, crashes.

There is a 3.90 version available from Realtek. I have installed and am now able to play without any audio crashes even with the audio acceleration set all the way to the right.

Hope this helps Realtek folks!

The RealTek audio crashes that are happening for some seem to be happening on a specific realtek chip, not ALL of them. A lot of ppl with Asus mobos have Realtek ALC850, those seem to be the ones that crash.

I have Realtek audio as well but mine is ALC860, not a single prob, ever. Some others would have ALC880 or later, no problems there either.

I have had zero crashes on my asus a8n32-sli using ALC850 and the Realtek audio drivers version 3.88.

Perhaps those using the nForce audio drivers are having trouble??

Edit: after updating my audio drivers to version 3.90 I found the stuttering dissapeared. I still copied the .dll files the OP suggested but couldn't really discern any difference. I felt like there was more sound and effects but maybe that's just my wishful thinking .

I'm not using the Realtek drivers, or nForce. I have a C-Media 8738...
and have had my fair share of problems.

Those files fixed them for me.

Who knows.
