Question Tis the season for overclocking!Tralalala..lala..lala

Hi guys, just wondering.. winter is fast approaching and I was planning on overclocking both my CPU and GPU. So, can this actually boost/affect TQIT's performance? I need a detailed explanation on the actual changes and/or the consequences of it.

I hope you guys can enlighten me on this. Thanks!

My specs:
-Dual Core E2140 (1.6ghz)
-1gb RAM
-256mb DD2 geforce 7300gt

Any suggestions on how to increase performance would be much appreciated.

I've got E7200 processor, and overclocking it from 2,53 Ghz to 3,6 GHz gave some improvement, expecially with xmax mod that increases the amount of monsters.

Overclocking a CPU is almost perfectly safe. You can oc that CPU to 2+ GHz easily without increasing voltage, so you shouldn't have any troubles with cooling. Just increase the FSB in BIOS, to 333 Mhz, it is 200 MHz at stock. Set the memory divider to 1:1, and multiplier to 6. That's a good place to start. Then increase the multiplier by 0.5 increments and see if it is stable.

Sometimes when you overclock and become voltage limited, your computer my not boot. So look for BIOS reset switch before overclocking.

There's a lot of good info about overclocking floating in the net. Hit "overclock e2140" into Google.

Actually, I've already tried raising it from 1.6 - 1.7. My system was fine and TQIT runs fine also but after 30mins of playing, the game just crashed! No warning whatsoever. This has not happened before, then underclocked it again to 1.68, game runs smoothly, as always.. didn't recognize much difference though.

Oh, I forgot to mention that my mobo is an ECS P4M890T-M and according to some of my friends, this model has its overclock function locked. so not all of the things you mentioned I was able to do. The only thing I was able to change was the FSB rate. from 200, I made it to 212. Will run a few more tests though..
