Hmm i see that your new to IT. Well if you dont have any characters whom have beaten the TQ then you wont be able to start off on IT. because tq as you may kno or not. has 4 acts Kinda like diablo 2. Then with the IT expansion it gave it another act. So if you have a character who has beaten TQ then he/she will start with the Expansion places but if not your going to the beginning!

No, I'm not new to TQ. I'd just beaten TQ when I installed TQ:IT thinking that the game would automagically take me to TQ:IT (having just beaten TQ).
I should clarify: I started TQ:IT (after having just beaten TQ) using the TQ:IT desktop shortcut. I imported my character and hit the "play Titan Quest" button on the TQ:IT start screen. It took me back to the beginning of Titan Quest - the original - not once but a dozen times.

Have you checked the difficulty?
If you completed TQ in normal, it will unlock epic, and when you start the game next time it will automatically change the difficulty to epic. Maybe you need to change it to normal. Installing IT after beating TQ should take you to the beginning of act 4.

Changing the difficulty from Epic to Normal is a good suggestion, unfortunately I've already tried that.
I wonder if my inability to start IT has anything to do with the camera mod I installed?

You can install TQ Defiler, and activate the first portal in act 4, or you can try to portal to Wusao caves and go beat Typhon again.

I tried to non-.NET version of the TQ Defiler and it was a no-go. I was still taken back to the start of TQ.
Looks like something is broken. Odd thing is, I've played TQ: IT previously and didn't have any issues going from TQ to IT.
