Default character lost after powercut

Hi everyone,

I was playing TT when there was a powercut and when I tried to play the game with my usual character (let's call it G), it didn't appear anymore. Only my two former characters that I don't use anymore (M1 and M2) remained. I tried to find a solution here but English is not my first language and it's a little difficult for me (no one is giving an answer in the forum of my country either ;-)).

I went to the save folders, my games, TT, save data, main, name of my current character, levels world. I sorted the files and then suppressed (well I put them in a completely different folder in my documents just in case I would need them again) the last folders modified both in normal and epic folders : the last .que file, a map.dat file, a quest.myw file and a questToken.myw file. So that's the last 4 files in normal and the last 4 files in epic.
That didn't solve the problem, the character still doesn't appear when I try to play.

I also saw that in the 'user' folder, the names of the last character G didn't appear either but the two oldest ones, M1 & M2 are there (with a player.crh file in each of them).

Does anyone have a suggestion ?

Thanks for you help and patience with my English. ;-)

Modifying the quest files won't help the character appear or anything, chances are (like 99%) that you lost your character when the power went out. You could email it to me (link in sig) to look at it and if you're lucky part of the character file is still there....or you could check under the 'Backup' folder for that character to see if the file under that is still usable.

Hi Soulseekkor,

Thanks a lot for your reply and your help.
I tried to send you the files, but I can't manage to do it. The file won't be sent even if I zip it. So, don't bother anymore, I think I'm just going to give it up and move on to IT with a whole new character. It was level 46, but oh well. ;-)

Thanks anyway !

You could just make a new toon with Defiler who's at level 46. Divide the stat points the same way you did with your old toon, open the portals and quests and such, and you're ready to go, right?

Ahem ! I don't even know what Defiler is, is this a external program or ?
I don't understand what you are talking about, not your fault, I'm a French speaker and many terms are unknown to me. I just understand stantard English. Is there a link to a post where soe explains how to use this defiler ?
Thanks !

Here you can find the Defiler website: http://www.tqdefiler.com/

Basically, you recreate your toon. One could call this cheating, but since you already made a toon that got lost because of technicalities, it seems fair to me that you're allowed to recreate it without calling it cheating...

Well thanks, I'd be very happy to recreate it. I got used to it overtime and I liked it. I'm going to check this out.

Have a nice day !

I do regular backups of my toon files with SyncToy to a removable drive just to try and prevent this from happening. I would strongly recommend this to anybody for all data that's really important to you. After all, you can get a 2GB flash drive for about 30 dollars in the states, I have no idea how much they'd be for our overseas friends though. I just think it's a wise investment judging on the amount of hours I have in my two toons, and I'm a noob!

I've lost too many hard drives in the past, so now I'm quite the paranoid!

Regards,

bginer

Edit: I just realized that while 2 Gig's is plenty for me and most players, the guys who've been playing this game for a while (The Old Ones ) may need more space. Hell, Poinas may have to rent a data centre! :0
