Is my character retrievable or not?

Hello,

First time post here. I was enjoying this game, and made my way to lvl 5 with some nice drops so far. Low and behold I get a power dip and my PC restarts, my air conditioner bogged down...must have been a slight storm blowing over. I sure did abuse the save game option during those 5 lvls.
When I go to restart I can see my char name at selection screen, but the avatar and lvl are missing. When I try to start it puts me back to selection screen.
I have been searching google ever since, (a few hours ago). I downloaded defiler, read through a few techniques. I created another char, and if I compare his save files to my lvl 5 saved files all appears to still be in place, I.E. pretty sure my lvl 5 is not "zero'd" out... does that matter? My lvl 5 has all the same files as my new char just a little larger size on some of them, at quick comparison.
Any suggestions?

Well I didnt want to waste those 5 lvls but my other char just hit lvl 10, this game is so refreshing after playing WoW for 5 yrs. Its even almost better than Oblivion, I played Diablo LOD for a long time I think this is alot better, I just hope I dont keep losing my char.

You might want to backup your chars from

My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest - Immortal Throne\SaveData\Main

every now and then.

Not that I backup mine, haven't lost a character in over a year (other than HD failing).

Your lucky your character was only level 5. I lost one which was at level 50 something and all his gear/loot. That really sucked. Now I back up the SaveData folder to an ext. hd every other day or so.

Yes, moved your "My Documents" folder (includes game data. etc.) to other drive and not the default C drive. You may install the game to other drive too. System drive caused me a lot of trouble before.
