The Ragdoll Physics 'in lieu of' scripted death animations are very satisfying, I must say. The teleport skill in Dream makes especially-good display of ragdolls flying, and it's great to show passers-by what the Lightning Bolt skill granted by my Borealis can do to a level 1 satyr that's running to engage me. Feels wrong to not have players become ragdolls on death (the newest Halo does, I think), flying out of your armor and everything!
It feels like 'overkilling' a mob sends it flying further. On the moment of death, the mob becomes a 'ragdoll' and a vector 'pushes' it. Maybe these are somewhere in the game, but I wish I had more 'control' over these ragdolls. I try to hit mobs across gaps and up and down hills but my animations aren't cooperative. Here's some make-believe skills: Shoruken - This is an uppercut attack. If it kills a mob, it sends them skyward. One-Inch Punch - This is a melee hit that takes time to 'charge up'. You click and hold, then release to execute the attack. The longer the hold, the more impressive the attack. If it kills the mob, it sends them flying backwards tumbling on the ground in accordance to the length of time charged. Corkscrew Punch - Spin your arm as you punch a foe. A lethal attack causes the opponent to spin head-over-heels in a cartwheel motion. Earthquake Stomp - Slam your foot into the ground causing 360 radial damage. Any stationary ragdolls nearby will 'feel' the impact and pop momentarily off the ground, but any ragdolls descending into the impact with 'bounce' like a trampoline. Matrix Debuff - This causes the afflicted to 'bend the rules', rules such as gravity. New zone - "Pinball Arena" Bumpers, musical notes, and more await when you send ragdolls into obstacles that react to them! I don't know the math or physics behind ragdolls, but I think they could be put to much more awesome use! ![]() |
