Default [Bone Charmer] Any Good??

I was just looking through the skills of each and it looked like a pretty good combo for a spear and shield. Charge in using Takedown, hit your DA and LifeDrain. With Eviscerate, RoT and Necrosis kicking in would'nt this amount to pretty good damage. Not to mention your LicheKing. As i am knew to the game, I have'nt seen the Bone Charmer mentioned anywhere. (hence my question) Anyways, if there is something on the Bone Charmer please point me in the the right direction. Any feedback would be great as I am thinking of trying one. I will anyway but a little advice from more experienced players never hurts! But the great thing about this game is you can give any combination a go and if you enjoy it ...then it works. Thanks again and good luck to all.

Bone Charmer is definitely viable. In fact, one of the top characters from the Naked Hardcore Challenge was a Bone Charmer using a bow.

Thanks for the reply Serisan. I wasn't even thinking bow. I thought the DA and its synergies with the AoE so had to be close, hence the spear and board.

Sry. There are no numbers there. Not to sure what happened.

This is what I was planning to look like at Level 20:

Spirit Mastery 16 pnts
DeathCill Aura 5 pnts
Ravages of Time 4 pnts
Necrosis 4 pnts
LifeDrain 6 pnts
Vision of Death 1 pnt
Summon Liche King 2 pnts
Death Nova 2 pnts
......................................

Hunting Mastery 4 pnts
TakeDown 6 pnts WoodLore 6 pnts
Art of the Hunt 3 pnts
Herbal Remedy 1 pnt

Is that any good? Or am I a bit off track. a little

It would start slow but the moment you get scatter shot, normal starts getting very easy.

The NHC Bone Charmer was heavy hunting to start, so I'm not exactly sure how to compare. Spirit has always been one of my least favorite masteries.

My main character is actually a bone charmer.

I tried both ways, mostly archery or mostly spear + shield and I prefer shield and spear! Way more devastating at the moment where I am.

Deathchill aura + ravage of time + necrosis at max = ennemy low resistance to drain life, bleeding and vitality. Furthermore, it's a defensive skill but his range his limited.
In order to make it work properly, I use "Take down" to get litteraly "in" the action. So every ennemies are just standing in the Deathchill aura.

While you're in you can use:
Drainlife item: for normal and epic
Bleeding: for normal and epic and still viable for legendary, even if it's way less effective.
Vitality... vitality! Not for raw vitality damages but for % in life reduction...
There is some specefic affix to look for.

(Been a while I didn't play, so can't remember all number) I was able to get, even for boss a 90% life reduction! No need to say, my char was doing a two-hit-kill.

Art of the hunt is a must... then you go with Dark covenent, Call of the hunt, and especially Study of Prey, which allow you to peirce through any defense.

You can then orientate your char mostly in dexterity without forgetting strengh, of course.
