Default [Oracle] Questions regarding the Lich King

Hey guys, I've been working on my oracle for a bit, got him to around level 49. He's in Act II epic right now. I have the Lich King maxed, Death Nova maxed, and a few points in Arcane Shell or whatever to keep him from dying. My problem is that it seems like such a large point sink for such little yield. He doesn't do much damage, and most mobs are dead by the time he starts doing any. Yes, I know he can be used as a tank, but I have the outsider for that. I guess my question is, at what point does he start getting... better. I've read posts about the Lich King being insane, killing bosses, taking names, etc., but I haven't felt him to be that useful.

Any thoughts?

Well, for starters you have to put him on "Aggressive" mode (right-click on the portrait and select "Aggressive") and if that doesn't help enough, manually select his targets.
Beware though, an aggressive Liche King does tend to draw a lot of fire.

Yeah, I've tried him on aggressive and that's helped him at least hit the mobs before I kill them, but he doesn't really do a significant amount of damage.

Well, that's about it. I'm lvl53 in Epic Hades but my Lich Kings is only at lvl13 but I must say that I somewhat agree with you; he doesn't do that much. Well, unless he fires Soul Blight but that only happens once in a blue moon. But he's handy as distraction and he doesn't die.

Maybe you should try playing without him for a while see how it works out. And by the way, Act I and II are very easy. Wait until Chang'an in Act III or even worse, Act IV.

I was using this guy on one of my early builds, and he seemed to actualy be sucking life from me so I stopped and ended up deleting the character and trying something else.. on reflection I probly should of stopped using him and just waited until my toon had progressed more

His soul blight ability and his %decrease in enemy hit points is what he is good for and that is why he is a boss killer.
Once he does his soul blight which as for my characters who have him does very often, reduces resistances which in turn gives him the chance to do his %decrease in hit points. Also if you have some skill that does some reducing in resistances your on your way to pwning some bossess .

Well, to me he always was primarily a tank, I do not care for his damage output but his damage intake.

I only use him for boss fights, move him in, let the boss focus on him and then attack the boss myself. The boss goes down without knowing what hit him

If you feel you do not need a tank, respec.

If you level him asap, Act 1 Normal is a cakewalk.

My Oracle is still quite low, so I don't know if the Liche works well on that build, but the Liches on my Soothsayers are killing machines. Maybe that's because of all the buffing and debuffing though.. I wouldn't mind if the he was nerfed a bit in his damage output.

um... you do know that when the lich king kills you don't get experience from it. I am also an oracle, i'd say use him as a last resort.
