Default [Warlock] Mana problems

Hi everyone.

One of my chars, a lvl 16 warlock, is having problems regarding to mana. The Deatchill Aura tree is very expensive, "eating" 4 mana/second. I have right now about 116 intellingence, but it isn't really enough.
The rogue tree isn't really much advanced, just with CS and BH. But like this, i won't be able to pick envenom weapon and it's synergies, since i won't have enough mana regeneration.

Anyone of you has played a warlock and was confrontated with this problem? Maybe the only solution is to get several items with mana regeneration, i suppose?

I appreciate your help please.

Dark Covenant is indeed the solution. Just level up a bit and get it next. Later on you'll need some "attack damage converted to health" on your items, which works very well with Deathchill Aura, to counter the health loss.

As a side note, if you're playing your Warlock as a melee character, you probably should not, ever, put a point into intelligence.

Yes, it's a melee kind. Well, i've spent a few points in intelligence (about 4 points), due to the mana problems i was facing, and i was trying to avoid dark covenant, because of the health loss, it seems pretty big for me...

Maybe with Life Drain and Cascade maxed out, i am able to counter it?

And what about traps, are they useful on a Warlock?
I was thinking on this build:

The health drain of Dark Covenant is not as bad as you think. Just remember to take off your Sacrificial amulet and Profaned cuffs before using it.

Life Drain isn't going to do it for you. For starters, you'll be using mana to regain life to regain mana, so it's a sort of weirdly illogical circle. Instead, use ADCtH as suggested.

You're also on the verge of starting to find Spectral Matter charms. They are better than Hecate's, and can help to offset the mana loss. The problem is that Spectral Matter is quite hard to find in Act II (it drops like a plague in Act IV). At least, that's how it is for me. The Sandwraiths around Giza onwards are a good source for them. Until then, roll as many Bat Fangs as you can. You often get 42 energy leech as a completion bonus on them.

Just be glad that you went melee and not caster for your Warlock. If you want extreme mana usage, try maxed Deathchill, Envenom Weapon and Ternion all at the same time. Mine is in Medea's Grove atm and, although she's a barrel of fun to play (Ternion + Envenom Weapon = AoE Confuse), the mana drain is just unbelievable.

Yep, i've seen some videos on the web of people using DC and it isn't so bad as we can think. Maybe if it was always on it could become more of a problem...

Well, recently i've made a Soul Shiver artifact (http://www.gamebanshee.com/cgi-bin/s..._Items.id=1055) which has 13% DCtH, and when i get do lvl 20 i'm sure it will help a lot!

Btw, thanks everybody for your help, i've made up my mind and it think it's indeed better to use DC. I still had to discard the use of traps, at least with they maxed, but well, LK must be enough

Nope. It's a melee one! But the aura's for themself are pretty mana consuming...

You really should not be having to many issues with Mana. Due to the fact that you are Melee, I am assuming you are using the aura's but I assume you are using Knives, possibly traps etc. No doubt calculated strike as well,

What I would do is work with all armor for a warrior class. Rings and Amuletd will fire you up with energy regen.

Essence of Hecate will also benefit you here when applied to jewelery.

Last suggestion would be DC at about 3 points. The speed in which it returns mana, and the rate at which you lose HP can be countered with one Health potion. At 3 points DC gives a speedy return.
