Default [RELEASE] Ghostchick Replacement Mesh

So, after a couple days of searching, I can't seem to find any transparent skins which has lead me to believe that no one has made a transparent-enabled player character model.

I know this is probably not something anyone necessarily cares about, but my gf and I thought it was cool.

The shader combination is such that if you use the allskin mod and use a skin with some alpha, it'll show up faded like in the above picture. But, if you decide to use a different skin with no alpha, then it'll look normal. Unfortunately, there are no skins yet that take advantage of this. In the picture, I'm using the Necromancer Witch skin with like 40% alpha on it.

I'm hoping that if there's anyone out there who wanted to make any cool ghosty player skins, or necromancery skins or whatever, then they could use this mesh for now. My gf says she might do some, but she seems pretty set on leather boots and stuff right now, and she's having such a good time I don't want to like start making skin requests or anything, you know?

The only thing that sucks is that the hair is a separate mesh. I can give the hair mesh the same shader information, but then it's always translucent, regardless of what skin you're wearing. Not to mention, lots of hats use different hair meshes.

I've tried some other shader combos from other stuff, and can even get that glowy toothpaste color glow on her, but then it's always like that no matter what skin you're wearing.

So, this seems like the best option.

Come on, no one going to bite?

Man, I'm never going to have enough time to skin. I guess I could just alpha-up some of the cool existing skins. :/

I think it looks amazing!

Heh, I've got some faint idea about how to use transparant skins in a flabbergastingly cool way, but that's not something I can do myself. I'm not even sure if it can be done at all..

Well, shoot out some ideas! Maybe my gf will take a crack at them. Oh, who am I kidding, she's never going to. Day before yesterday, I'm like, "Hey, you're getting pretty good at that, think you could make me some cool, evily dark skins?" She's like, "Yeah, no problem." Last night she's like, "Check out my new skin," and she had the character in a polo shirt with blue jeans and pink fuzzy slippers.

Don't get me wrong, it looked cool, but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. :/

Well, since you asked for it, here's my idea (it's more of a thing if we'll ever get an expansion and even than it's probably a ***** to program):
Let the character be influenced by stats, putting points in an attribute results into a changed appearance, much like in Fable.
Dexterity => Taller
Strength => More muscular
Intelligence => Glowing rune glyphs or aging
Health => Fatter
Energy => (here it comes, dundundun....) More transparant!!

Than we'd also need a barber, tattooist, etc... so you can grow mustaches and place tattoos on your toon.

Anyway, heh, you'll see that my proposal is probably impossible to program for the most part.

Yeah, I was just thinking of some cool skins that partially or totally utilize transparency.

It's a cool idea though. It'd be awesome if we could get mesh changes through oneshot items like allskins uses dyebottles for.

My gf and I were browsing through the meshes, and looking at all the cool npc meshes. We were talking about making a new wig vendor at every major city who sold helmets with new hair styles, like the allskin mods does for skins. But, instead of them just being decorative, they would also be the same functional helmets you could buy from nearby vendors, just with the hair mesh instead of the helmet mesh. For example, instead of buying that turanite veil of manasauce that gives you 100 armor and +200 to your mana, you could go to the wig vendor and by the turban wig of mana sauce that gives you 100 armor and +200 to your mana. Dig? Just have them generated with affixes like normal headpieces, but just with cool hair meshes.

Of course, new skins could be made for different hair colors for each style, not to mention I could make a transparent enabled mesh for each hair style so that people with transparent skins could have hair to match, etc..

Anyway, it would take more time than either of us has. While I could just copy all the existing hats and do some mass renaming and mesh swapping, I'd still have to manually make all the loot tables and vendors and bitmaps for the new hats. It's at least a week of my modding time, and I just don't have it to spare.
