ok, to make a player texture, you have to extract the original texture fom the game's resources.
The game uses big archive files with ARC extension, the one that has the file we need is creature.arc, and we use arc explorer to open them (can find the link in the wikki)
Once you open that archive file, search for the "Pc" folder (player character), once there you will find a "male" folder and a "female" folder, these folders holds the mesh (3d model) and the textures. Simply extract one of the Tex files located there, the name indicates what color it is.
When you extract the tex file with the arc explorer, you launch the tex viewer, and open the extracted texture, then convert to tga, and now you can edit the texture file in any painting tool that supports tga.
To get the texture back, there is a post somewhere in the skins or textures forum showing how to use the texture compiler to make the tex file without launching art manager.
