Well, maybe TheRaven is the best / only shot to answer this one, but since it might be interesting for other players, too :

How would I make .TEX files work with the mod manager released by TR ? Simply changing the file extension didn't work, and I'd like to change some char skins using above mentioned mod manager.

Had same problem as you.
I guess you pack the folder with the .tex and other files.
TQ Manager can only handle files that are directly in the zip files and not in a folder inside a zip file.
