Default The most gear dependant/independant classes

Let's put it simple. In your opinion, what's the most gear dependant/independant class, based only in the skills?

I don't like the idea of farming endless times for an item just to make the char overpowered. The forum is full of Sapros here and Stonebinder's there, so let's talk about what classes don't need divine equipment to stick around in Legendary without problems.

I want to sort it out since I don't have an opinion about it. So I'm asking what's your opinion.

Thanks people!

Well, I'm not sure if any class qualifies - it depends much on how you play them and what you want out of them.

Though I think you should stay away from melee toons, as well as from bow wielding and stave-firing puppets.

Probably a true caster or a petmancer.

Bow toons are fairly independent of great gear. Green bows beat the best purples anyway, so you can shop your end-game weapon. And, because archers don't get hit as much as melee toons, they don't need super damage absorb/DA/resists/huge AR armour items.

They don't use OA at all, so don't need to worry about boosting that on gear. Nor do they need -% recharge. Attack speed is always good, but you can get that from a variety of non-purple non-MI sources, including Wood Lore. Movement speed is also handy, but Trail Blazing helps with that.

Debuffing on gear (Monkey King's, Sapros, etc) is not required, as Study Prey is sufficient throughout the game. For just a few points, they get a pet that is almost unkillable in Legendary and holds aggro better than any other pet in the game. So there is no need for pet-boosting gear.

Herbal Remedy provides huge poison resist, a tricky area that often requires a special/second set of gear for non-Hunting toons (Cerberus).

Overall, I'm more comfortable playing Hunting untwinked than any other mastery.

Oh I see. So a Ranger could do it without uber gear? Well, that's good cause I started a Ranger some days ago. ;D

Well I have a Conqueror in the middle of Epic Act 3 doing fine. Without very nice gear. I wonder how well it will do in Legendary. Fire based and cold based mobs are hitting me hard. I think I need some resistance.

I also have a Druid that I need a huge help from you guys but I'll post the problem in another thread.

See ya!

Well, the game is too easy later on to be really challenging. Even with half-baked gear, most characters probably still won't have a hard time completing the game. I wouldn't be too concerned about the difficulty later on and just play a character that most appeals to you. Normal will probably be the toughest difficulty anyway.

True. Epic here is easier than normal. The difference, of course is the loot and the 1hit K.O. bosses' moves.
