Default Levelling strat

Is it generally better to work your way up to get the 'better' pets and abilities early, or to put more points in the lower pets?

I'm debating getting to the top with 1 point in each pet then levelling them evenly vs maxing the lower pets then opening up the higher ones after.

I say stick with the lower level pets at first, then when you finally reach the higher ones, you'll have a whole new world of playing style ahead.

I'm noticing that when I have more than 5 pets, the pets after 5 on the list generally don't use their special abilities at all. Kinda puts a damper on the whole 'pet army' idea.

Well I just put one point or maybe 2 in all the pets that have appeared as I've reached higher tiers. The Blazing Stallion is ace

The turtle is so funny... I only wish that the pets move faster... And Palpatine isn't weak at all...

Ridiculous speed. I have my aggressive beast spell at like 6 or 7,+1 from equipment. Makes them all comparatively fast, even with boosted run speed of my own. Also, the more points you put into a creature the larger it gets, and as a result the faster it's movement is. You can see it most obviously with constructions atomotoi or w/e.
