Default Bowyer

I want to make a Bowyer... but I need a little help.

First off ... would this be a good class? O.o ??

I also have a really newb question... I have pretty much only played Casters in Titan Quest. What stats does this class need ^_^???

Thanks

Bowyer is an excellent class, and I think most archers should go with construction merely for induction as it is overpowered as hell. as you will never have mana issues stats are enough dex to use your equiptment and then Str, str, str!.

I found the traps and the automaton to be average and sick bay doesnt seem to add the +OA (although your ranged so this doesnt matter). Its a pretty fun class and with life leech and induction you can survive pretty much without pots.

No best for any weapon build is enough dex to use best weapons of any type then str, str, str.
Reason is STR gives both Physical and Piercing damage boosts but DEX only effects piercing.

The formula is basically for phys & piercing damage
weapon base damage+Str bonus+%damage then Pierce conversion then Dex bonus+% piercing.

Taking an example weapon 25% piercing bow with 100 avg base damage. As +50 STR = +10% bonus and +65 Dex gives +10% piercing.

Assuming +0% from items (to make simpler).
base damage not including stat boosts is 100*75%=75 physical and 100*25%=25 pierce for 100 total damage.

If you boost STR by 50 points it then:
100+10%=110 so its 110*75%=82.5 Physical and 110*25%=27.5 For 110 total damage.
If you boost Dex by 65 points you get 75 physical and 25*110%=27.5 pierce which gives 102.5 total damage. As you can see points in STR are much more effective.
If your using a +50% piercing conversion weapon then for 100 damage weapon,
110 total for str 55 phys and 55 pierce for DEX its 50 Phys and 50*1.1=55 for 105 total STR still better.
So per point in STR you get 10/50=0.2% damage boost but for each point in DEX you get a 0.04% boost with a 25% piercing or 0.08% boost with a 50% piercing.
Or 10% for 10 STR and 2% or 4% for DEX (25% and 50% weapons)

Also remember that archery gives +133% perma average piercing bonus when maxed out not including in calculations (higher with the temp boost at +232% 30 for secs). This will sift the balance even more in favor of STR due to it applying to the STR modified base damage instead of adding as with DEX.
In this case it turns out to be for the 25% STR its 82.5 phys and 64 piecing compared to DEX giving just 75 phys and 60.75 piercing.

What he said, I love my Ranger and I think it was Viper I originaly read it off of and once I followed what he had suggested to someone else my Ranger fair tore through the packs.

I am still looking for a Trackers Hood for her as that is a handy bit of kit

I got lilith masteries, and for the most part, my Bowyer works pretty good. I put all attribute points in either strength of dexterity and that's helped alot.
As for skills, I had these Construction skills:
Landmine
Automaton
Moblie Trap

For Archery, I had:
Way of Burning Arrows
Exploding Arrow (which is great for clearing large mobs)
Necromancer's Shot (worked wonders for the Siran Mines quest)

(@Wilko: I might have a Tracker's Hood, I'll check my loot)
