Default Uberbuild?

I'm posting in this section of the forum because I get the feeling that the fastest melee killing machine of the Masteries Mod will have to include Close Combat as one of its classes.

So, according to your opinion, which combination of masteries will produce the ultimate melee runner? My personal guess is the Skirmisher (Archery/CC), because of the Signal of Attack and Sharp Eye skills.

What do you think?

Way of Cain vampire might be a good combo as well due to the 15% damage reducing aura.

I am currently a lvl 53 Myrmidon using Dual Wield and Way of Cain and say my current DPS is 1639 with 195% attack speed. Dunno if this is uber or not as my gear is definitely decent but not Legendary.

I will not say this is the best/most uber build out there as I am sure someone will correct me but I can honestly say it is fun, easy, and very quick to kill.

Alchemy/ CC hands down. Not only because of the huge defensive skills from alchemy which allow you to focus on more damage gear + high spirts speed bonus from alchemy, but the Imposture gives damage + run speed (like collossus). this means that enemies die fast and u dish out alot of damage and crits.

Edit: when you say melee runner you mean boss killing? other classes probably can run through the game faster, but for boss killing I think alch/CC is hard to beat.

I'm going for full-clears as well as some boss-killing, probably more of the latter for this toon at least.

I see your point about Alchemy...the question is whether getting a Homados or other piece of chest gear to increase attack speed will make up for the loss of DA and Piercing damage that Archery would provide. The mastery nets me more than 30% DA, over 100% passive piercing damage, and a skill that can provide another 130% piercing damage on demand, for over 30 seconds at a time.

Alchemy has a passive speed boost (~30%), passive flat piercing damage (70+, afaik), an additional 8% chance to avoid projectiles (35% compared to Archery's 27%), and will provide +55% damage (with ~400 base STR) on demand.

Please note that the values are based on maxed skills with +4 to all.

Now that I think about it, being able to swap out my current chestpiece (Batrachos Breastplate) for one with attack speed would let me get different completion bonuses on the Achilles Relics in my weapons, +%damage instead of +35% attack speed.

To be perfectly honest, that sounds really freaking good at the moment, so I'm probably going to use the Defiler to make the switch and test it out.

Illusions/blurred visions would make up for the DA. the pierce damage is hard to make up however, and depends on what you want to do. I suspect for boss runs that are easy to get to sucha s hydra, 2nd telkine etc alchemy would be quicker, but for trash clears an archery pierce build might be quicker (although it limits use of "uber items" such as sapros as you want pierce damage)

i absolutely love alchemy as a secondary mastery, no matter what youre main is. its very powerfull with close combat. illusions is very mana intensive though, so youre gonna need to chug potions if you want to max that skill out.

besides the passives, flash bomb and sand cloud are good 'oh crap' buttons.

alchemy will give you all the defense you need, so you can focus all your gear and CC skills on pure offense.

im not sure if its the 'best' build, but i find it hella fun.

If you max Philosopher's Stone it can help you with Illusions and also increases your dmg greatly as a bonus, hehe. I would go for some -%recharge stuff to have PS permanent though, it has quite high recharge.

with chrono you can have accelerated attacks on all the time with reload. thats around 80% damage, 60% speed, and 12% OA all the time with some + skill. plus time stretch seems like a good boss killer.

if you are dual wielding alch would be better for not dying.

btw how much -recharge would you need to have phil stone on all the time
