Default Dual-Wield Question

First and foremost, hats off to the wonderful guys who put this mod together! All I've done is look at the mod site, and I'm already excited about the things I'll be able to do with this mod!

Now, my question pertains to the dual-wield skills in the Close Combat tree.

This is my understanding:

Attack of Janus provides a passive 37% chance to attack a single target with both weapons.

Moirae's Attack provides a passive 25% chance to attack three targets, hitting each once with each weapon.

Double Kill provides a 42% chance to attack two targets, hitting each once with each weapon.

Now, adding these numbers up, it appears that with all skills maxed, a dual-wielding character can attack with both weapons each and every time, hitting up to three targets with each strike. Is this correct? (And doesn't it give dual-wielders a heavy boost to DPS, with 100% chance to hit with both as opposed to 70% (maxed with +4 skills) in vanilla TQIT?)

I don't mean to criticize; it's an honest question, so please forgive me if I seem rude.

Thanks,

Chikken

Perhaps but there is no "onslaught" like skill in the Close combat tree (there is one that makes u run faster and soak damage, and the upgrade makes you hit multi targets from memory). This probably balances it out a bit. I see the close combat tree as less damaging but more tanking than the warfare tree from vanilla. I am currently playing a close combat/alchemy character which seems to play like a more durable assassin. Moirae's looks awesome when it goes off

Hmm......I see....looks like I misread the description on Battle Aura, and thought it was a passive +% damage as opposed to static +damage. Thanks for the heads up!

On a slightly different note, have you tested out the Spartan Thrust skill? In terms of damage, how does it stack up to vanilla abilities?

How about Mortal Shot?

Thanks in advance,

Chikken

Battle Aura is more like TOW. It does a damage per tick to all mobs in the aura.

Havent used those skills my CC/Alc character is still low level but went the Dual Wield route, Although I am pretty sure it would work better with shield/spear.

From experience the first spear skill isnt that great. Slower attack speed on spears with a skill that goes off once every 5 hits (4 charges and then it procs).

As for Battle Command, 7 levels (4-11) and not a single weapon has been swung. I have just run. Its amusing if a little sad.

To the first question, it's actually like 65%.

This is my guess on how the Dual Wield skills work. If I am wrong, please correct me, because this theory is pure guesswork:

Whenever you attack (with dual weapons and the passive skills) it goes down the list and "rolls" to see if each attack "works." If this is the case, (unless my math is off, which it may well be), with the 3-skill approach you have about a 72.2% chance of hitting with something. It would appear that you have 100%+, but since it would stop rolling after one hit, any extraneous rolls would be forfeit.

This is still very powerful, though.

Wrong it takes your over all chance in this game this is the sum of chances 37%+25%+42%=104% This means one will go off on every attack.

The chance of any particular one going off is (its %/total% of something going off if greater than 100%)*100.

So for Moirae's Attack in this case its (25/104)*100=24% of the time
Attack of Janus its (37/104)*100=35.6%
Double Kill its (42/104)*100=40.4%
And the % chance of all of these is 100% as is to be expected.

No you're wrong. The chance of something happenning is 65%. You guys don't remember this, this is high school math, basic probability, or you're stupid. Don't give me any crap, this answer is right.
