OT: What's a good colour to post spoiler? beige seems to be pretty good, but my moitor calibration may be a little off. However I can see Ivaron's and Psycho's spoilers without effort.

Yeah, that colour is you're using now is hidden better for me as well.
Using white it doesn't "jump out at you", if you know what I mean. So you can't accidentally read it because it caught your attention. Then the only thing left to do is just don't look at it, lol. But yeah, completely masking it would definately be better.. edit of two posts above: changed my spoilers to beige as well. Last edited by Ivaron; 04-04-2008 at 02:30 PM. |

I can see there's writing there, but not well enough to tell what it says...
@ Ivaron: (Spoiler, sorry if you can see it anyway)When you have the automaton on 20/16 it switches to the talos model (but smaller), and gets his stompy walk. Which is much slower. |

As mentioned somewhere else already: the first five or six levels the automatoi were intentionally nerfed in their speed. I assumed that this would be a good idea, somehow.
![]() Well, in the upcoming version this will be removed and all levels will have the same run-speed. Of course their size still matters. @ Psycho_Migle: what you describe in the spoiler is certainly true and designed to be like this. There are qualities that make up for it... |

Psycho Migle
I also saw that automaton levl 20 was slower but in begin of act 3 he one shooted every monster...so being slow is not too much a problem i think :O)( played in 1.01) |

I posted this idea in the "modifications" folder, but I figure it can go here as well.
Automata/Automatoi should be slow. This was a good flavor idea. That being said, people, (especially pet-users) hate their pets dragging behind them and not preempting fights. The way to solve this (to have our automated cake, and to also consume that cake) is to have the automatoi give itself a hidden debuff when it attacks. This is to say: The automaton is always 100% of speed, every level. However, on an attack (it hitting something else) it gains a debuff of -% to its movement speed for 15 seconds. This means, it can run around equally as fast (ignoring gear) as you do, and get into fights potentially before you, if you're smart about it. And once it engages in combat, it's not going to be very able to switch to other parts of the battlefield quickly. Each level the automaton could have 1 second of this 'slow time' removed. Therefore the best automaton would only be slow for a few if any seconds. -Qesidus |
