Default We had to restore from backup :/

We had a bit of a problem where we lost an entire forum with its sub-forums. I tried everything I could try (and my MySQL-fu is pretty good) but could not find anyway to restore those forums other than to restore to a backup taken at midnight EST5EDT last night.

You may notice some posts/threads/pms missing if you posted after that time. I sincerely apologize for the trouble. I did try importing all of those threads/pms/posts however they don't want to show up. They are in the database and I am going to try a couple of VB maintenance tasks that may get them to show up.

Anyway -- I just wanted to give everyone a heads up as to why it may seem we have gone back in time :P

Thank you all for your patience!

Methinks you've saved me from a hanging LANLocked.

I thank you.

No worries my friend I am currently running some of the maintenance stuff VB provides on the backend. Hopefully we didnt lose much - I am seeing posts from this morning appearing that would have been after the backup, so maybe my MySQL-fu is ok

I don't see the new masteries mod forums though -- did I nuke those or...?

Yep, things are looking good again.

It does appear that the Masteries Mod subforums got smote though.

I am going back in to see if I can save the Masteries Mod forums. Putting the site in lockdown for just a couple minutes

Who is the man?? You can say it - "LANLocked is da man!" :P

I managed to pull the Masteries Mod stuff out of the borked db and insert into live

So other than what should only be a few tiny issues, I think we are back alive and well

Let me know if you guys see anything odd/broken etc.

Ouch... I see what happened and there were about 20 PMs that are probably affected. The problem is that I dont think I can track them down to delete them now.

There are 2 tables in the DB that deal with PMs. One references the other. I copied the entries from one to the other but not the second table (with the actual message in it). The problem is, the ID is an autoincrementing field, so I cant go back and find the original messages without breaking all the PMs after them.

I guess I just have to apologize and hope nobody sent anything too bad

I am very sorry about that - I was just trying to save everything I could. The good news is that as I mentioned earlier, this will only affect about 20 messages.
