Default Warlocks?

I am new to the game... and I really liked the idea of a warlock with slows and poisons..

However it got me thinking and when I did some research I didn't find much on melee oriented warlocks

I was wondering is it becasue they don't dual wield, or are they inferior to other rogues and I should look elsewhere for survivability (and FUN!)

This was sort of what I had in mind to build for my first character... any advice would be appreciated.

the reason why melee warlocks are rare is because warlocks just ask to be casters, ternion + poison = fun

dual wield is by no means important for melee chars, actually id hardly ever use it if i was warfare.

since this is your first build i recommend not going for any bleed skills.
also i presume you skilled into toxin distillation because you think it makes the poison debuffs stay longer, it doesnt. instead of these skills (anatomy, open wound, toxin distillation and all but one mortal wound) you should probably get the liche king + wraith shell. and more important: a lvl 1 throwing knife + maxed flurry of knives so you can spread poison on enemy groups far away.

I just beat normal and am starting in epic with a Warlock. I picked Warlock out of necessity for Rogue though. I noticed that my Rogue, being largely poison and piercing, couldn't kill undead well at all.

The only things I've put points into in the Spirit tree are Deathchill Aura and Sprit Ward / Bane, everything else is in Rogue.

I'm currently using Deathweaver's Legtip and a green bow I purchased. I rely on the bow and Flurry of Knives a lot to start off and then switch to the legtip when things get close.

My main attack is Calculated Strike, and I use Lethal Strike on bosses.

While I have died from large mobs before (mostly tigers and dragons), I haven't had too much trouble with the game.

I've just finished Legendary as a warlock, and to some had suprisingly few deaths in the game. The is basicly on focusing on all types of defence both classes offer: deathchill aura + maxed flurry of knifes + death ward + spirit ward. Here's my build:

http://www.titancalc.com/TitanCalc.a...-8-0-0-6-8-0-0

As you can see i skipped bleeding since more and more creatures will have higher resistance to it, and because i used traps to weaken enemies hitpoints before metting hand to hand...

Bosskiller: Outsider or Lethal strike is up to you. But the outsider leaves you 2 damage dealers instead of just you...

For warlock melee classes you really SHOULD max BOTH poison damage AND bleed damage. Remember Deathcill max and with + skills will double your bleed damage, this - with anotomy AND poisons will make very powerfull DoTs. Id go as far as saying this is the ultimate DOT build. Also spirit bane removes the undead problem and makes this melee character very powerfull.

DOT = Damage Over Time. This was near useless VS most normal mobs since they all died in 1 hit before. In the 1.15 patch, mobs will get more life, meaning dot builds will be much more valuable
