Heart of Oak affects traps?

The wisdom on the forums is that traps are allies, and buffs like blade honing affects traps.

Does heart of oak make the traps fire faster? The reason I ask is that heart of oak supposedly increases total speed.

My idea is an illusionist with traps, blade honing, briar, heart, plague, and the various add-ons. The traps are sharper and fire faster (and have more life), the plague upgrade reduces resistance, and briar lets me hide. :-)

The only tough part is what weapon to use personally. I think for traps I need to go energy so I can keep chucking them, so that sounds like a staff. But then blade honing doesn't help me, just the trap. But that's probably an inefficiency I can live with.

Ooh, I wonder if blade honing affects the briar retaliation? Heck, I wonder if the poison skills affect the briar upgrade? Probably not on the latter -that would be real useful. :-)

you cant have blade honing active if you wear a staff.
and as far as im concerned neiter blade honing nor envenom/ toxin distillation works on the briar retaliation. blade honing wants attacks and the poison skills only affect you.

ah its actually quite easy.
start with traps, then get heart of oak. then wolves, then survival instinct. by that time you slowly need to worry about defense so get your briar ward (just getting poison and flurry of knives is prolly still better but that makes is so mainstream ;-) ) after that max your damage with blade honing and start dumping into plague
