Default Traps and +Skills?

I have a few questions about how traps interact with +skills. I couldn't find this info by searching so here goes:

I know that firing mechanism was raised to 12 by the fanpatch as its a pet skill so it should be kept at a base of 8 and raised with pluses.

Rapid Construction was not modified because it works on the lay trap skill no on the traps themselves right? +skills should function as normal here.

But what about Lay Trap itself? I have mine at 18/16 right now and the skill description doesn't change if I take off the +skill items. Is the description wrong or do the traps receive no bonus damage/life for going above max level? Is it just that I need to have more than 2 additional skills to see the result because going 3 levels with no improvement in the skill would seem really odd.

I have now confirmed that the lay trap skill gains no benefit from going over it's max level. If you already have 16 points in it and you grab a mastery shrine the skill description does not change. Unless I'm totally missing something this is a bug (either display or skill) and I'm going to report it in the buglist thread.

Default Trap Bug: Traps and +Skills?

Noticed the same thing. The lay trap damage in the skill description does not change with +skills.

Seems to be a bug. Not sure if this is just a display issue or if the damage really does not get impacted by +skills in the game mechanics.

im building a trap sin atm... can one of the great demigods or anyone knowledgable about the game mechanisms confirm or refute this? 4 skill points could potentially go somewhere else, you know...
