Yes, the Rogue's Envenom line works on bow attacks (and staff attacks for that matter). For this reason alone, I'd say that Brigand is the best class for a pure archer character.

After playing with traps with my Corsair, I have to agree about Brigands. I would say there is no better crowd killer than this class now. With some resistence reduction relics and study prey, your traps will rip everyrhing to shreds in mere seconds if your bow doesn't do it first. And between traps distracting monsters and your poison abilities, rarely will anything ever even get to attack you.

Just don't depend on poison as a source of damage. There are too many poison immunes.

I just want to put 1 pt in envemon...and max out nightshade and mandrake for the confusion ..so i can pick the mobs off while they run aroung ion circles.

Do you suggest maxing traps?...that is a big investment.

Well I think they are invalueble for distracting enemies and making quick work of large packs. And no boss in the game is a challenge with maxed traps. All you have to do is circle strafe Typhon for example while your traps mow him down. All you need to stop for is to cast study prey or shoot him once if you happen to have resistence debuff relics on your gear. And maybe recast a trap now and then after one goes down.

Also, traps work well with the aura buffs in the hunting tree.

just to verify... the envenom debuffs also apply to scatter shot fragments, not only the actual arrow, correct?

No just to the actual arrow. But volley and puncture shot hit a fair amount of targets anyway.
