Thumbs up Re: PAtch

Wow...15 pages huh? lol ok

Been gone for a while, Played through IT and got almost through Epic before I took my break.

The rubber-banding issue "barely" effected me on my system. And plays actually very well on my step son's comp (right next to me) providing ALL 3rd party software (virus protection and such) are turned off during play. He's in Legendary and loving it btw

Surprised by some of the posts I've seen throughout this thread. But then again...not that much I guess. People will be people, with different perspectives and expectations across the board of life in general...and "especially" games heh

I've been a fan of IL & TQ since the beginning. When I'm in the mood for some fast action ARPG game, hack & slash, loot hounding...I look now farther than TQ:IT

I never experienced any game breaking bugs in either game. I LOVE/D Immortal Throne, think it's one of the BEST expansions I've seen release for a game. The mood and atmosphere and story,as well as the music imo are top notch!

It added the features and depth I thought the original game needed. Didn't need much, but IT for me made for the perfect game.

I'm sorry that "some" have experienced problems to such a degree that they feel that they had been mislead or cheated buy IL or THQ buy purchasing the games.

But I just for the record wanted to state as clearly as I can, that I personally have not experienced anything close to those conditions with the 2 copies I own.

IL (medierra) has stated that they are aware of the rubberband problem, I can only assume that the issue varies from system to system...which would make testing and narrowing down the problem an added chore.

I'm very glad to see Medierra still posting and keeping in touch with the community! That says volumes about him as well as IL's commitment and respect for their fans and customers. /tips hat

I hope that there will be a patch released when ever possible, for those that continue to have trouble and hold out hope for a fix.

I can only suggest the basics.

Defrag, reduce or remove any programs running in the back ground while trying to play, 2 gigs of ram does wonders across the board, the faster the cpu the better (though there may be issues with dual core, not sure) and there seems to be some driver related issues with the nvidia 8800 cards, not sure about that as well heh. Typically "more/faster" equals "better" in the computer world...but not always.

All I can tell you is my mid-range system, about 2 years old now runs TQ:IT very well.

That's "all" I know for sure...well and that my even older 6600gt rig runs it at a very playable level.

For those with problems I "as always" wish you the best, for Iron Lore I wish you the "very" best and can promise that I will be purchasing whatever you guys decide to release next! As I can't possibly imagine the team that designed TQ could ever create something I wouldn't want to play

Regards & Good Hunting ALL!!!!

Seems strange that if this is a deep seated problem with the engine, why do I only experience it with the expantion and why only the last act?

This never happened to me at all in the original game, obviously something was done to the engine for IT. Cant you just reverse that change? Surely the content loading is not fundamentaly different from the original game.

This is the latest reply I reveived back from THQ [u]NOT[u] Iron Lore

Date 30 May 2007

Further to your correspondence of 29 May 2007

Hello Lee,

I do realise your frustration with this issue and I have asked for another update about a patch, especially given the following post from the same member of the development team:

http://www.titanquest.net/forums/que...tml#post150471

If I do hear anything back I will pass it on. In the meantime I am passing on this phone number for you to complain yourself if you wish. This will put you initially through to reception so I advise you ask for customer services once your call is picked up.

Phone: 01483 767656

Once again I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Your customer number is

If you need further assistance, please call our technical support staff at 0870 608 0047 . Also be sure to include all previous replies when/if responding to this message.

Best Regards,
Alan M. at THQ Technical Support

Now I'm assuming this is a U.K phone number as it was sent from THQ support in the U.K. So for all you U.K based people with the same rubberbanding ring THQ and see if you can find out what they're doing to support this game. Hopefully they will supply me with an Australian number to ring here.

rubberbanding is not my major problem...offline lag is the major issue....i wonder if devs have found the thing to resolve it?

i still say that the money spell would be something to make TQ a lot lighter cause it always keeps all loot in the ground(as most player dont peek everything)

it would be a nice had to patch

While I am reluctant to undergo digitization, this is appears to be the only logical solution given the circumstances. I didn't want to burden people with this information but this is part of the reason that the patch process will be difficult and risky.

To answer a question posted above - the rubber-banding is a performance issue and thus is better or worse depending on your computers ability to keep up with loading.

Yes, this is true. The rubber-banding was introduced inadvertently as a result of an attempt to fix the stuttering / hitching that some people complained of in TQ. However, as good intentions often do, this fix seems to have gone horribly wrong. This is an unfortunate example of the risks involved in patching / making changes late in a project. Occasionally you hear of companies releasing with a known bug and it seems horrible that they would do such a thing. However, once you get too close to a release date it is very difficult to delay even if the publisher wanted to because of marketing schedules and commitments to retailers. So developers end up in a situation where they need to assess the risk of attempting a late fix or releasing with a known problem. Our revisions to the loading system were not working correctly and we did not want to release with a known bug so we attempted a fix. You know how this story ends of course, we got burnt and the rubber banding effect was introduced and not caught in what time we had left to test before release.

I'm not a programmer, so I don't know the specifics but I'm told it isn't as simple as just reverting back. Extensive changes were made to implement the new loading system and the programmer that worked on them has since left the company. We could still try to revert back but it seems like it might be better to try and fix the current implementation, which should hopefully eliminate the hitching of TQ and the rubberbanding of TQIT.

That may be true, but the Master control program could still pose a serious threat.
