My faith is now restored with developers of video games. The PUBLISHERS, on the other hand... THQ in particular... well, that's a different story.

Well thanks for posting this additonal information Merdierra, however sad it may be.
Just to let you know, I believe that patching the game would help sales. I have two personal friends who are itching to buy TQ/IT. One of them has bought TQ but didn't buy IT thanks directly to this patchless situation and the other just will not buy either game, thanks to the lack of a patch. The internet is a powerful tool for the game buyer nowadays. I have for some time (since being burnt in the sacred fiasco) only bought games after checking out internet forums and looking for problems posted by users. This is what I did with TQ. I lurked these very forums and saw posts about patch 1.15 at the time and realised this game mostly worked and was being patched so I bought it. My mistake was assuming that this would continue for IT. A mistake that I'll never make again. THQ has earnt my disrespect. Part of buying a computer game is expecting bugs and expecting patches to fix them. THQ has broken this cycle and hence cannot be trusted with anything they release in the future, except as a 1 year + after release bargain bin and see if patches where done at all. But I bet buying a game for a tenth of the initial new release price one year or more later doesn't do the dev or publisher any good does it? But if that is how THQ wants to sell it's products to the customer then fine. I'm happy to avoid their products on the new release shelf, no problem. No, this is yet another lesson in buyer beware. So what is THQ's next marketing strategy? Close down internet forums so that buyers cannot discuss game problems and patch issues? Sounds like the strategy that a immoralle company such as THQ would adopt. Well good luck to you and Iron lore in the future. While I know you mean well by offering this info, at the end of the day, customers such as myself have to protect ourselves from being ripped off by immorale developers such as THQ. |

I dunno what to think anymore... I mean, I understand the game is THQ's property, and they are the baddies that won't support IL for a patch. BUT, why is the game buggy enough to need so many patches in the first place? Especially after waiting sooo long to get patch 1.3 and IT thinking it was going to fix all of 1.2's problems. Does this not reflect back to IL? No game is perfect, but this one just seems to have all the right bugs, broken things, and hitching just to take the fun of the game down to about half of what it should be.
I understand development and everything that goes into it isn't an easy process, and takes alot of time, but seriously...why is IT so screwed up to begin with? Was it hurried out the door THAT prematurely? If so, why would this be with such serious crashing / performance issues, bugged out quests and pathing issues. If it was rushed out the door (which the publisher should be well aware of), wouldn't you think they would already have a plan to patch the game after it was released? This either makes THQ 10x more EVIL than originally thought, or makes IL look real bad, like dumbass rookies. BTW, it's still NOT O.K. that you guys ignored us so long, no matter what your reason was, and won't be forgotten so quickly. I'm glad it's over and Medierra is finally posting some kind of info, but it was still ridiculous as hell and inexcusable. Also, kissing his *** like some of you do on this thread isn't gonna make a patch magically appear, just thought i'd bring that to your attention because some of the smooching around here is a little much. Like someone on here once said, they need us more than we need them. They should start kissing OUR asses in hopes we will support their next game. Because as it stands with me at the moment, I will be a little weary of buying another IL product, even if the publisher is the best in existance. Anyway...my money is on them folding soon. But, I do hope the worthy employees find their place with a real and functioning company that makes some good games that actually work the way they are supposed to. Over and out, patch it if you get a chance and the resources, if not...F@$K it. I'll check back around August 2010 and see what happened. However I will be willing to bet that NOTHING WILL HAPPEN!

I think you misunderstood our, as you say, "*** kissing"..it wasn't about begging for a new patch but appreciating the work that has been done.. Remind you, TQ+IT are just games..nothing for which your world tears apart..

I've never seen people get so bent out of shape over $30. The IT game costs $30. TQ works fine without it. IT is an option. I personally enjoyed IT and a few rubberband issues here and there are not that big a deal. The game was released with some bugs most likely due to lack of funding for QA and a publisher pushing a release. I still don't see how it was released "THAT prematurely" as I've seen very few bugs with the game. In fact, I've never had TQ or IT even crash to the desktop, which is an amazing feat in itself.
Its amazing how bitter some of you are. I've spent more then $30 on a meal out that sucked. Many of us in the working world know that often times things are out of our control. Sure, we could all pile on and bash IL for not patching the game. That's the equivalent of screaming at the letter carrier for returning your letter because you didn't pay the increased postage cost. Anyway, I'm not going to fan the flames any further.

The only other companies I experienced this were Tilted Mill, Stardock and the early OSI before EA bought them, especially in the years 1997/8 when Ultima Online was new. Most other companies make you feel as if you were an annoying toddler asking for the bottle.

Sometimes, a little understanding and respect for another's situation "regardless of your financial loss and/or addressing current issues" is simply humane for some of us. And as some mentioned, whether or not a patch may appear, is not the issue, but moreso a morale boost for a lacklustre situation. Regards, Incinerate

I would just like to ask one question to the devs on this issue, and no its not 'when will a patch come out.'
To the devs, with all the info you collected of various players via these forums, The question is.... (drum roll please) Do you know what causes the 'rubberbanding?' Yes or no answer please, and no I am not asking for information etc, just a simple yes or no. Thanks in advance.
