This is what may very well end up happening. We're talking about doing some unpaid work to put a patch together. Part of the problem with doing this is that we do not actually own the rights to TQ and cannot fully QA the patch ourselves but it looks like we may get support from THQ for that. I can't promise if this will happen or even speculate on when, things are pretty tight here at the moment but it is something we want to make happen.

Despite what some will say, I believe Medierra and the rest of Iron Lore really want to support the game. The issue is that if no one is paying them, they must do it in their spare time. It is easy to sign on here and bash them for the faults with the expansion, but everything must be taken into perspective. They need to put food on their tables and pay their bills, so we can't expect them to work full time on a patch for free. It is THQ's responsibility to tell Iron Lore: "We're going to keep paying you guys and want you to work on an IT patch."

For those who want to moan about how Iron Lore is terrible, you have to realize that for the most part the game works fine. There are some slight lag issues, especially in Hades chamber, but nothing game breaking. The rubberbanding is annoying, but not constant enough to make me uninstall the game. The game sold for what, $30? It is worth that patch or no patch. I've spent $30 in much worse ways before, and on much worse games. $30 doesn't create a lot of profit when you consider all the people that worked on the game. Look at Two Worlds and Gothic 3, there's two games with MUCH worse issues and no support.

There has been some talk about in other games a the gaming community has created a patch. Any thought been put into that? Asking the main modders PcikFrog,Bman,Raven,Soulseeker etc. to work together on a patch with you guys? I really have no idea what kind of work goes into that stuff if it isn't obvious already...

medierra: even if all you can get from THQ is permission to distribute beta patches among the community that would be a great start.

Once all's said and done and Titan Quest gets fully abandoned by THQ, it'll probably become a community project. In a way that would probably be better than poor support from the publisher IMO.

Ah well buddy, do what you can, when you can, if you can, as I'm certain the vast majority of people whom use these very boards will fully understand/appreciate the "sticky" situation you are all in.

Patch aside, the game was still worth every bloody penny, as was the original and on that very note, many thanks to your team and I wish you all good luck and fortune for whatever new projects come your way.

To reiterate what I said on another post only recently.

Quote:
Those guys at IL whom created TQ/IT are without question, a truly talented bunch of developers and it would be a crime to commit them to a black void at this early stage of their creativity.

I'm not certain how many core members have been there throughout the entire project and how many of you still remain at this present moment, but let this been known, the core talent that obviously resides within IL has strong foundations and i'd like to hope that anyone worth their salt will pick up on this talented lot, just in case THQ drops the bomb on them.

Alas, sometimes s**t is out of your control, whether it be your publisher, sales, lack of interest in the genre at present or whatever, but talent is raw at best, you guys at IL have got it in abundance and one day somebody will pick up on it, of that I'm certain.

Regards,

Incinerate.

What i personally think of the most these days is not the patch, but what happens with IronLore itself.

I wonder if they have a new contract for TQ2 or something similar or if they have to look for a new publisher.

I'm only guessing and i understand that they cant talk about it, but i just hope they get a nice contract!

We certainly like to see more of that company!!

If it weren't for IronLore, we wouldn't be here.
