Default First Patch ETA - continued

A word to the mods: You closed all the other threads regarding this topic (because of spamming problems) and said we are free to start a new one and then when MadWasp did start a new one, you closed that because of "the other dozen similar threads"... which don't exist anymore because they were closed due to the spamming...
I know, it wasn't the same moderator but still... please coordinate your efforts.
So, unless I missed one, there is no thread open about this topic in this subforum. Therefore I will continue the last one here:

Someone in the other thread (rightfully) commented that I don't know what Iron Lore is doing right now. True. But does it matter? I know what they are *not* doing: Coming here and telling us what they are doing to fix the game. Or if they are doing anything at all. No answer is an answer as well, after all.

Someone else said that "complaining" about the bugs discourages potential new users unless they also see reports of people who don't have problems, trying to justify their "it's all working great for me"-posts. Well, first of all there is no one who doesn't have problems. Period. At least the quest reward bug definitely exists for everyone.
And secondly, I don't really see a problem in discouraging people from buying a faulty product that doesn't seem to be supported anymore. Finally, this is the thread about the patch, ergo bugs. If you feel the need, make a new one titled "Game works great for me" and put it in there.

Edit: Got confused with the names. Gene didn't start the thread but was the moderator who closed it. Sorry about that.

Edit2: I see this thread has been spammed again. Is it possible it doesn't have anything to do with thread size but that it's a general forum problem? I don't know what safeguards you have in place against bots, maybe they aren't working. Or maybe it's not a bot.

Very well said.

Please patch the game.

That is all.

Not to rant but I see Iron Lore peeps on the forum as late as yesterday and hear nothing from them...why??

Even if it's "we're not issuing another patch" or "we're working on it" or even a "no comment" would be preferable to utter silence since gathering info on the 'rubber banding' prob..

Just throw us a bone and let us know something

Why do these spam posts only ever appear in these threads anyway?

probly cause these threads get the most views, statistically speaking. any thread with anything to do about a patch (even if the devs aren't posting in it, people are gonna view it in hopes they say something) is gonna get viewed alot more than other threads

I sympathize, but let me try to explain again why it's often better for them to be silent.

Here's a possible scenario.

IL rep: "We're working on a patch."
Player 1: "When will it be out?
IL: "It is not ready, so I cannot say."
Player 2: "Why?? We want it NOW. When will it be ready?"
IL: "Like I said, I can't say. But we've been working hard on it. If I promise a date I cannot keep, you guys will complain further."
Player 3: "Then tell us you've solved problems A, B and C?"
IL: "We're working on it... we will..."
Player 4: "If you don't patch problem D, I hate you I won't play anymore."
IL: "......."
Player 5:" When will the patch be out? I want it now, my wife, pet limos and I've been waiting 3 weeks!"
IL:" When it's ready. We're still doing testin...."
Player 6: "Will you fix rubber banding?"
IL: "Not completely, but we're close. We've managed to..."
Player 7: "You mean it can't be fixed??? I hate IL, I hate IT!"
IL: "No no no, it's not that we can't..."
Player 8: "No fix for rubber banding??? Then what have you %^#@$@## been doing all this time... ^%##@%&$&%$@^$#@!!!"
IL: "........"
Players 9 - 542: "When will the patch be out?"
IL: (Should've kept my mouth shut)......

... on a personal note, I really sympathize with fellow players who cannot get the game to work decently. I have been fortunate that the game works well on my PC, hardly any problems, occasional but not disruptive rubber-banding. Nevertheless, being in a B2B-B2C-IT environment myself, I sympathize with the developers too. They are probably caught in a situation where neither saying anything nor being silent helps you, but I do trust that they will eventually return with a proper patch.

Seems to me that IL has a fanbase that will whine about anything and everything no matter what it is and no matter what measures are taken to ensure that whining is kept to a minimum.

Nah, it happens with all kinds of things, games and services - it's human nature.... Actually, credit to the TQ.net community - one of the most mature (in comparison to others!) I've ever had the honour to be part of.
