Default Patch 1.30 error message

I get the patch downloaded, then it asks to install. I click OK and it stops at:

Progress (4/35): Creatures\resources.arc

And then tells me

Titan Quest updater has encountered an error.

Options:-

1. You need to ensure that there are no mods installed.
2. Re-install the game before patching. Save games are safe.
3. Go HERE and download the original version of the affected file.

Oh, and welcome to the group.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I have played this game quite a bit. I just upgraded to fx-60 and windows XP and on a clean install with no mods this error has occured. I even wiped the drive and started over to no avail.

What file do I get from the link. I read the thread and it seemed there was perhaps several I might need...?

It seems that you would need the Creatures.arc file in order to replace your possibly broken one.

Hi

I don't see Creatures.arc on that link. Reinstalled, patched no go.

You know what? You're right. Sorry about that, I assumed it would be there.

Did you download the patch via internet or did you hit the Updates button in-game?

I have tried both. One other variation was the incremental patches. I thereby made it to 1.15 I believe....

I ran memtest86 and it found errors with dual channel memory on my A8V board. I am now running 1 stick of PQI PC3200 = 1gig RAM. I also turned off all McAfee virus stuff and got through Creatures.arz to the database.arz which then failed. Oh, fx-60 processor, XP SP 2...

Hah!

Downloaded database.arz and replaced my file with it after naming it .bak. It worked! To update that is, I wonder if I can play the game?

Hmmm,

While before I couldn't join multiplayer games, now I'm just experiencing random crashing. So:

BFG Ultra 6800
fx-60
Asus A8V W/Realtek AC'97 sound enabled
PQI pc3200 1gig

Any ideas?
