Default Little problem since the patch

I recently got Titan Quest and installed and patched it. Now when I play the game will randomly lock up my computer. I have to cold reboot in order to fix the problem as it will not let me do anything else. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone have any ideas about what might be going on? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

what are the specs on your system? sounds like your processor can't handle the game

2.8 ghz pentium
1gig of ram
GeForce FX 5900 Ultra 256mb

Not exactly a brand new computer but it has been able to run pretty much every other game with no problems. All my drivers are up to date as well.

I would ask, that you do a start, run, dxdiag, and click save all information, and upload the TXT file makes it easier to debug problems

Okay, I ran Dxdiag and got the txt file with all the info. I zipped and attached the file (hopefully). Let me know if it didn't work and thank you in advance

well, i'm not sure if this is a problem.. lol, maybe a dev or someone smarter can answer, but Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs) <-- you're runnin 2 CPU's.. :P not sure if that would do anything for locking up but, everything else seems to look fine, I honestly don't know

that just means it's dual core, i'm not 100% sure how dual core works yet, but if TQ is not programmed to take advantage of a dual core CPU, you will effectively only be running the game on a single core(???) which would be, what, 1.4ghz in your case?

again not sure about this :|

If it's 1.4ghz, you definitely won't be able to run it I don't think :-P

but yeah, it sounds like your processor isn't able to run it.. that's why it keeps locking up

Its not a dual core, its that hyper-threading or whatever. Its one 2.8 ghz processor, but it operates in such a way that it makes the computer think there are 2 processors, heh. Or something like that. I don't know if this explanation helps any, but thats why it says there are 2 cpus, and why its not dual core

Locking up has nothing to do with a processor "not able to handle" anything. Older processors just run slower, but can still handle everything that new ones can. I assume the game runs pretty normally (speed-wise) before it locks up?
The only way an old CPU can actually lock up, is if the new patch incorporates some new opcodes that aren't captured correctly, but I doubt it.
Only thing you can do is to roll back to an earlier version.

The game runs like crap on my mid-end PC, no idea why. I also have lock-ups, but the game continues after 10-15 seconds. I have the feeling something is not quite right under the hood of the game, but I guess we can only hope for a magic patch that fixes everything.
