I can install and play TQ (1.01) just fine with Vista.
I can install all patches, either incrimentally or standalone all the way up to 1.15 and all works fine. When I attempt to install 1.20, even with User Account Control off (and with and without XP compatibility mode), it results in an error that reads: The procedure entry point ?Update@Timer@GAME@@QAEXXZ could not be located in the dynamic link library Engine.dll I'm afraid the expansion pack will not work either. I'd hate to spend the money on the expansion pack only to have it not work with Vista. Anyone know if TQ expansion will be Vista friendly? Anyone know what that weird error message is? Thanks! |

Any time you see ".dll" in an error it's related to DirectX somehow*, even if you think you have the most recent version of DirectX I'd suggest downloading and installing the newest version that comes with Titan Quest and that should get you the files you need to run it.
*In my experience, that is.

Thanks! In the time since I posted, I installed the game on my XP laptop, then updated to 1.30, then copied all 2.9GB of the THQ folder to my thumb drive (I knew the 4GB size would come in handy one day), then I over-copied my Vista installed THQ folder and voila!
I started & verified the game is reporting version 1.30, then I played a bit with my saved character (thank God it kept this)... All is good!!! |
