Problem upgrading to patch 1.20 from 1.11

I used to hang out here a lot a while back , but been gone a while and figured I'd finally up the patch on the game and get used to playing it again before the new add on game comes out.
The problem is that it fails on the update at the game.dll I think it's step 11

I might have modified the game a bit because I do use potions unlimited and also runes can be used on anything.
What do I need to do to correct it so I can install patch to current version?

Current game version is 1.11 and trying to update to 1.20
I've also used the stand alone patches before.
Tried the stand alone and from the update button within the game and both fail.

As for your issue, to correct the problem you need to get an unmodified version of the game.dll for the 1.11 patch. You can get it in this thead (take the one for version 1.11). If you have modified other game files, you will need to get them in their pristine state as well.

If there's a file you modified for which you can't get it somewher in its pristine 1.11 version, then all you can do is reinstall the game and patch from there (well, another method is copy all files from a patched 1.20 version of the game if you have one on another computer in your house ).

Well I did save the game dll and it's from 7-06 and replaced it....sadly it still failed ....guess something was changed and it wasn't in "pristine state"

If I reinstall the game will it work?

There are some characters in the save game folder that don't show up in the game...how can I just delete them?

The new game next month is it an add on, does my game Need to be patched up to the current version for it to work?

Okay in order: If you completely reinstall the game it should work, you should use SSTQDefiler (google it) to fix your broken characters, while you can use the mod to cheat, you don't have to use it for that, you can just use it to fix busted char files.

If you get the expansion in early march it'll patch you up to 1.30 but you'll need to fix your current game files first, ie reinstall.

Yep I tried defiler to fix the characters but they still come up blank as in just the name of the character is in the sceen window but no character shows. If I try and start the game it then pops back to that same window.

I know I can use another "program" to get most of the tunes items (except what they are wearing)

What about reinstalling it over the current one, will it write over any files that were changed by Me or some program I used?

You have to open the character in Defiler, then open Titan Quest, select "Play Titan Quest" then choose that character, then Tab + Alt of Titan Quest with it still running, then hit "Fix Me" and "Patch Game" then Tab + Alt back to Titan Quest, start playing the character (or just hit the < or > to get to another character first then put it back on the other character) then you should see them, and they should be fixed.

Yeppers I did exactally that and still no go the character is blank the name shows but not her picture.....
And no this is not the Nude character mod, all I did mod wise was stackable potions and insert or socket any items like, purple...etc.

The picture sometimes won't come back until you've started a game with the character. Did you actually try to play with the character after you did Patch Game and Fix Me on them or did you see that the picture was gone and exit the game?

Yep, I thought of that too, but it tries to start then goes right back to the main character window, with the no picture character....
