Current Version=Unknown CANNOT update

ok i have stopped playing titan quest and i have just now started to play again. .....Im not sure what version i have or if i evr updated. I tried the Update button in the game but it shut the game down and said that my version is unknown and that it requires version 1.08. I also tried updating from File planet from 1.01 ..1.11 etc and they all gave me the same error messege Help?? also if someone cant figure it out....are the updates that important??

Your version number is in the bottom right corner of the main screen, tell us what it is.

Just reinstall and use the ingame update button. You probably downloaded the 1.01-1.20 standalone patch and since your version is not 1.01 you cant use that one. Files may have been FUBARed in the process. You wont lose your characters.

hi! i tried to patch my version to 1.20 but an error keep coming up and i cant patch, and i tried to patch to version 1.30 but when i enter the game comes another error and now i cant play can someone help me plz?

Do you have any mods or hacks running?
If you can get the first screen up, what is the version number?
Did you install from DVD or Steam?

For people running on vista, the game won't update either. You have to run the game with Administrator privileges so that it can change itself. I hope that helps one of you.

When I download my update ( 1.30 ) and try to install it nothing happens, and then when I start the game it still says 1.20 so what should I do?
