Alt+Tab'd in and out of the game: 6 Crashes out of 10 Total Alt-Tabs

Difficulty: Normal
Game Type: Single Player & Locally Hosted LAN Game
Player Type: Male Spirit Mastery with Lich King out.
Stage: Greece
Location: Anywhere
Character Player Loss: None
Character Data Loss/Corruption: None
Item Loss: None

This crash is silent, meaning that when I Alt+Tab out, the game just stops running as if it was never started. There's no error message, no system beep, no Windows lock-up, nothing. It's just no longer running.

Thus far, just an annoyance, not a destructive bug, unless you count it killing a LAN game destructive where you then have to call your buddies and tell them to log into you again. Happened only once in Multiplayer LAN.

Crashing while idle: 1 Crash

Difficulty: Normal
Game Type: Locally Hosted LAN Game
Player Type: Male Spirit Mastery with Lich King out.
Stage: Greece
Location: City before Delphi, (I forget the name)
Character Player Loss: None
Character Data Loss/Corruption: None
Item Loss: None

Thus far, just an annoyance, not a destructive bug. This happened in a Multiplayer Hosted LAN game while waiting for my friends to log into the game. My character was at that time the only character in the game.

Non-Windows BSOD Blue screen freeze requiring system hard restart: 1 Lock-Up Freeze

Difficulty: Normal
Game Type: Locally Hosted LAN Game
Player Type: Male Spirit Mastery with Lich King out.
Stage: Greece
Location: Delphi Highlands
Character Player Loss: None
Character Data Loss/Corruption: Everything wiped since last log in. Character loaded into the game fine, but all levels, items, gold, etc. were lost. It was as if six hours of playing never took place.
Item Loss: Everything equipped and unequipped since last log in. Character loaded into the game fine, but all levels, items, gold, etc. were lost. It was as if six hours of playing never took place.

Was, at the time, in the Delphi Highlands near the mountain range on top of map just before the passage to the Delphi Lowlands. Running from Delphi back to the Dephi Lowlands. All mobs were deads, just running with Lich King out and Spirit Ward active. This crash froze the game to where the screen went blue and all you could hear was some popping chirps of the game in the speakers. No keyboard commands worked. There was nothing to be done other then manually press the Restart button.

Upon reloading the game, it was visable from the title screen that my character may have lost something, but it was confirmed once logging that I had in fact lost everything that was gained before logging in tonight.

This happened in a Locally Hosted Multiplayer LAN game about twenty minutes after the last remote player logged out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had secured 4 levels, 3 Blue items, and 4 Green items, as well as a slew of nice rings/necklaces/etc. and about 60,000 in gold through drops and selling dropped gear tonight. It just really sucks that I just basiclly wasted hours on end when I could've apparently done something, anything, else, and at least it would have been worthwhile. Why the game crashed and corrupts character data is so ridiculous it's beyond me. I have never played a game where this happens.

I will be going back to World of Warcraft tomorrow and I think I'll hold off on playing Titan Quest again for a few weeks until the next patch, because, although the game *does* run smoother since 1.15, it is nearly constantly crashing on me and it's just starting to make my blood boil. Especially now that I've experienced item loss and wasted time. There's a feature I miss from Diablo II, having the game *not* "crash and lose your data."

By far on of the longest posts I have ever seen. Have you tried using Soulseekkers TQDefiler? It may help...but I am never sure on these things. Sorry, for your frustration though.

Unhappy Re: Game Freezes and Character loses everything since last log-in.

I did try using SoulSeekkers TQDefiler last night, but unfortunetly it was unable to "Patch" or "Fix" my game.

Also, in another wierd bit, when I was trying to use the TQDefiler to fix my character file I noticed that my Quest Log was completely empty. Not a Main nor a Side Quest was listed in there. The button was greyed out, and I could only access it by hitting the Hot Key. When I opened it up, the Log was clean bare. When I discovered that unfortunetly the TQDefiler program didn't fix my character issue, I imported the "My Games" folder I copied out before trying TQ Defiler. I then ran to a NPC who gave me a quest that I lost last night and they gave it to me again, and now it showed up in my Quest Log as my only quest, completed or otherwise.

Also, when I logged in and while playing I noticed pretty significant screen tearing with things such as the Rebirth Fountain looking like an unreconizable jagged piece of ice, Terrain Shadows running completely rampant and just being enormous and changing orientation frequently, the Liche King's Spirit Ward and glow effects seeping through on-top windows, (such as the vendor windows), the main Map having some serious color palette issues, and other weird quirky issues. I tried logging in and out of the game four times, and on all four occasions this happened after about maybe 10 mins. I experienced this while hoofing it all over Greece trying to get back the quests I lost lst night until I couldn't take the video issues any more and I just had to turn it off. At least it didn't crash this time. :|

I tried unrelated System Benchmarks and Diag programs (such as 3DMARK, PCMark, SiSoftSandra, Prime95, etc.), afterwards to make sure that there wasn't an issue with my Video Card or Memory, and they reported back the same results I had when I last benchmarked my system with no errors.

Things seem to be slowly going from bad to worse with my TQ 1.15 experience. Which is too bad, as I noticed a significant improvement in the game with it chunking less with the 1.15 patch.

In your My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest directory do you have Exceptions.txt and TitanQuest.dmp files? If you do, can you please email them to reports AT ironlore DOT com please? Thanks.

Hey Ioz,

I just experienced something similar to what happened with yur char. So i hope i will get the prob fixed. I quit WoW and thought this was a good alternative, but this char loss would be a real bummer. Reading yur post gave me some doubts, cuz i have the feeling that the game here ran better with 1.11 then with 1.15, more stable that is. Did u get your problem fixed btw? If yes, please share it
