Default Patch v1.15 issues

Hey IL and players,

I went home and did the v.1.15 update and everything was cool except for 1 thing... Certain textures are bland, they do not appear detailed anymore. However it is only a few things. For example, the base of a portal, and gear that I wear. Check it out, I am going to attach some screens for you. Let me know if there are any files that I can send to you that might possibly help you tell me what is causing this or help you fix the issue. I am also going to send you a picture of what it looked like before as well. Not sure if that will help. You can really tell with the lion helmet and the greaves compared to how it used to look in v.1.11.

Well, in the 1.15 patch, when setting the textures to low more texture compression is used so some texture may look more bland.

"- Implemented texture reduction matrix which allows the low graphics settings to use more compressed textures and improves performance on low end systems"

Solution? Set the texture quality setting to medium or high.

Hope this helped.

Well how about that, I have to set the teaxture level to high in order for it to look like it did on low back on v1.11. Cool stuff, thanks broham.

I have this fun little bug. I don't know if it's 1.15 only, since I just got to the area for the first time yesterday, but the shadows are all screwed up in this area.

That means at your computer is too HOT! so put low settings or something. those are artifacts and its not good thing to your graphic card!

The second and third look awful! Do you mean that high textures now look like the low quality setting?

Actually the v1.15 pictures are on low settings however if I change the teaxtures to high it looks like it did when on v1.11 with settings on low, weird huh? I leave everything else set to low, I can not stand stuttering. I would rather have a perfectly smooth running game.

There was a bug in the game where setting the textures to low was not correctly applying the texture compression which is why performance was bad on some low end systems even with the settings on low.

Wow, I applied the patch, and set textures to medium and now I can play @1400x1050 on my older x700 256MB/Audigy 2 ZS PCMCIA/1.73 Ghz Centrino/1GB RAM laptop with FPS > 30. Before, it was choppy @ 1024x768 (FPS < 25). I would rather have a little less detail, myself and have a bit higher resolution. Good work.

I most definitely agree with the higher reso and less detail, even though I know there are many people out there who would prefer the detail.

I love my higher resolutions.
