Default Possible memory leak

After a long day of lots of TQ, I noticed I was lagging very bad as I entered the library at the beginning of the Egypt act. Lots of people are complaining about lag in caves and at night, which I believe is caused by the shadows. However I had never lagged this bad before. I restarted my computer, no more lag. Memory leak maybe? Maybe it's not the shadows specifically that is causing the lag.

There was a memory leak in past versions but I believe they fixed it in one of the earlier patches. However, there may well be another one.

Does this happen every time you play?
Is the performance constantly degrading?

Finally, what are your system specs? You should really know to post them as you're constantly telling others to do so.

Yes, I believe the performance also constantly degrades. The game is usually unplayable for me after an hour or so. At that point I usually just reboot.

Meh, my system specs aren't a concern at this point. The game runs fine most of the time I play it, I had just played it a lot more yesterday than I normally do and noticed performance slipping later in the day. It wasn't straight playing, I did close it down in between sessions. If performance degrades over time, that points to memory leak which wouldn't have anything to do with my system at all. I have 2GB of RAM, which might be why I don't experience it as quickly as others.

I left the game running overnight while I was in Delphi. The lag was horrendous. The patch did solve the constant crashing problem though.

I've found that I would lag really badly in certain spots. (Library, certain caves, Obsidian mountain area, Olympus, etc...) By accident I happened to click on the map and closed it. It was like flipping a switch. Suddenly everything started moving smoothly. To test, I opened the map again and changed sizes, it would be laggy until I actually closed it and then everything moved smoothly again. Not sure if it is just on my end or not, but it may be worth testing to see if it makes any difference for anyone else.

i've noticed uncommonly bad stuttering at certain points since 1.11 was patched in.. a cave right near that village between Sparta and megara (water quest?)
also both outside and inside at knossos, the athens labyrinth, and the library at rhakotis.. i'll load up TQ when i get a chance and see if that map thing works though

Angry Same here

Hello!

I just wanted to chime in and say that I also have issues with memory leaks. I usualy play the game for many hours at a time and after about 45 mins - 1 hour i start having significant slowdown. Restarting the comp fixes the prob but also Alt-Tabbing the game gives about a 2 min increase in proformance.

I also noticed that if i alt-tab the game and the set Titanquest.exe process Priority to high i get a boost in proformance that lasts for about 30mins.

For the most part all i can assume is that the game needs to have its streaming/instancing system worked on cuz it seems like all the areas that i have entered and left are all still useing up resources on my comp even after i move to a new area (bodies stay, doors stay open, the Terrain persists.).

My best suggestion would be to add LOD options and the option to turn OFF shadows because i can run doom 3 on my comp at 1600 x 1200 running at about 50 FPS but only if i turn off the shadows!

I DEMAND WE BE ALLOWED TO TURN OF SHADOWS!!! they are ugly when set to low and its better to have no shadow then black flickering bricks under everthing in the game.
