Game just freezes

After installing the v1.11 patch the game occasionally freezes. This happened with the other patch (1.08) but I rectified it with a no cd crack. I don't want to use a no cd crack as Gameshadow won't reconize the game, so does anybody know of another way to stop the game from freezing. I see that other ppl crash to the desktop but I'm having to turn my machine off with the power button, which we all know isn't good. I can't even use the window key or ctrl/alt/delete to get back to my desktop. Any help would be grateful or if the devolopers see this could they address this in the next patch, thx.
