Default Dual booting xp/vista

hey guys, im currently running vista on my machine (came pre-installed), but im wanting to run xp also due to how vista sucks with many older games.

i know this can be done with a clean install, but i was wondering if i can do this without wiping everything on my hd...

i found this page in google Dual Boot Vista and XP with Vista already installed - SysChat
and it seems like a good straightforward guide. however, im a noob when it comes to the more technical aspects of computers and am not sure if its a good idea to attempt this.

also, my system came with a vista system recovery cd, is this the same as a boot disc you would get when buying vista in stores?

thanks for any help/opinions, im asking here because i know some of you guys are pretty tech-headed

I intend to do this with my laptop soon. It doesn't have a Vista disc, though. I'll see what I can do with it.
