Default [Release] UBER Mod 1.0

The UBER Mod

This is the final tier of difficulty I will be releasing. Built off of UberAldentecore XMAX, this mod starts with the extreme difficulty and spawning of the Double-or-Nothing XMAX mods and, thanks to the dark artistry of I.N.S.A.N.E., it also features the death effects for 1.16. [Death effects version unavailable as of 2-13-09 until problem can be fixed. Use Uber Plain in the meantime--same game, just no death effects.]

This mod is not recommended for new players, or even moderately experienced players (unless they are demonically masochistic); it's for veteran players who are looking for an advanced challenge.

Check out this 60-second video of some Legendary Uber Gameplay.

It's highly unlikely that a less-experienced player will enjoy this mod. For newer players, unsatisfied with the level of challenge the game provides, I recommend you try out the 2xDifficulty mod or the Double-or-Nothing mod. For moderately experienced and veteran players who are just looking for something new, I recommend trying Lilith; the latest version of Lilith includes several difficulty options, as well as providing a lot of new game content.

The features of the Uber mod:

Increased difficulty

Increased monster spawning

Increased hero and champion chance

Heroes and bosses have high chance to drop double-affixed items

Added new boss (Epic and Legendary only)

Orb bosses drop uber-loot

No loot penalty for repeating any boss chest

Death penalty is all experience gained so far that level (won't go below your current level)

No gravestone recovery

-22% reduction to all stat requirements

Many affix changes/additions to uber-loot affixes

Orb bosses more reluctant to give up their orbs

Oh, and I forgot: bosses spawn in groups of 6

Requirements:
This mod requires the Immortal Throne Expansion and the latest community patch 1.16 (you can get the patch here: http://www.titanquest.net/forums/bug...fix-patch.html)

This mod also requires a robust system to run. Performance is similar to XMAX (for those of you who’ve played DoN, the performance is pretty much the same).

Installation:
Extract the contents of the RAR file into your Immortal Throne installation directory (usually found here: Program Files\THQ\Titan Quest Immortal Throne\)

Doing so will add files to your installation directory, and overwrite these files:

Program Files\THQ\Titan Quest Immortal Throne\Database\database.arz
Program Files\THQ\Titan Quest Immortal Throne\Resources\Text_EN.arc
Program Files\THQ\Titan Quest Immortal Throne\Resources\Effects.arc
Program Files\THQ\Titan Quest Immortal Throne\Resources\LTex.arc

The package comes with a backup for your database.arz file (named "database.arz.116").

The included resource files only add to the game's resources for the Uber Mod. This means, switching between Uber Mod and other mods (or the regular game) is still just as easy as a database swap. You should still back them up, just cause.

Once the extraction has completed, go to the database folder (Program Files\THQ\Titan Quest Immortal Throne\Database\) and run Uber.bat to swap your database for the Uber database. To restore your 1.16 database, use the Restore.bat.

I included the batch files for convenience, though if you prefer not to use the batch files, you can swap out the database manually by renaming "database.arz.uberdfx" to "database.arz".
The Uber Mod comes with death effects by default. If you'd like not to play with the death effects, download Uber Plain. There's also a camera mod version (also without death effects).

Uber Plain: UBER_PLAIN.rar - Hosted on Demortex.com

The Uber Mod: UBER.rar - Hosted on RapidShare.com [DISABLED]

Uber Plain: UBER_PLAIN.rar - Hosted on SaveFile.com

Uber Camera: UBER_CM.rar - Hosted on RapidShare.com

To open these files, you'll need one of the many free programs out there that open RAR-compressed files. I recommend WinRAR because it's awesome freeware: http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar380.exe

Big thank you's for Yerky, Persona, Seufari, and Eric the Red for their feedback on what turned out to be a huge mother ******* project.

Excellent!! Downloading now. However, I may play through DoN or Aldente first. Which leads me to another question: did you by any chance pack the death effects mod with Aldente or DoN?

So... this is gonna be the new masochist mod

EDIT: Also a few comments/questions:

"Level roll-back on death"
How does this work exactly?

"-25% reduction to all stat requirements"
May I ask why?

"Orb bosses more reluctant to give up their orbs"
How?

No loot penalty for repeating a boss chest

Heroes have a very high chance to equip double-affixed items

Many heroes can spawn up to 5x

Non-unique mystical orb loot now has randomized affixes

Oh, and I forgot to mention: orb bosses spawn in groups of 6

Hi,

Hmm, from what I've seen, I really doubt you can play TQ: IT on that laptop...well, maybe if you do not mind ~10fps...it might be ~15fps when it is X1300 Intel intergrated...

@Munder - why do you still have to be making sooooooooooo difficult mods that I cannot even play for being even afraid to ask the horse guy?!

The critters around the horse guy took an eternity to kill - there also seemed to be more satyrs and boars surrounding it than in the previous DoN or in xMAX... and more monsters overall - perhaps I'm just imagining things.

Everything goes down quickly atm, with Distortion Wave

I think those specs will barely run the game with the ugliest settings. I prolly wouldn't frustrate myself by playing this mod at the same time.

It is more difficult than DoN, but I would argue it ends up being comparable because of many of the changes (not for orb-boss fights, though--those are still ridiculous).

The same way it works in DoN. I suppose it sounds like you go back a level, you don't. You just lose all experience you've gained so far that level. I should probably change the way I described that, heh.

"-25% reduction to all stat requirements"

It's only for stat requirements, not level requirements. It doesn't let you use high-level items early, but it does let you use low-level high-requirement items sooner. I wouldn't get excited about this--it's not as much of an advantage as you might think.

Where it has a larger effect is in allowing different builds. It's not as much of an advantage as it might seem. The biggest benefit is to hybrid characters. If you play a mage, but invest in strength, you'll be able to wear better armor. And since melee armor can come equipped with mage-oriented affixes, it could pay to invest some points in strength. The reason it's 25% is because that the right amount to allow for hybrids to get access to better equipment, but without letting them have access to all equipment. In the caster-with-melee-armor example, if a mage doesn't invest anything in strength, then they'll stop being able to wear melee armor by epic, and for sure by legendary. Not to mention, even if they invest a 3rd of their stat points in strength, they still won't be able to wear the best armor or equip the better shields. So, hybrids still pay a price for their versatility.

Now, you can make good use of this benefit by like stacking it with other equipment that gives you more -%reduction to requirements, but by the time you're finding that stuff you'll also have collected some pretty awesome equipment, and the trade-off is pretty balanced. I mean, you could wear the captain's signet ring, but you'd have to give up a slot that could be used for the Veteran's ring of the Betrayer.

Oh, they just might not give them up as easily as they did before.

Hey Munder, did you get a chance to add death effects to DoN and regular Aldente?
