also, when I run SSTQDefiler under administrator, i get the TABCTL32.OCX error, but runs fine when i just double click SSTQDefiler? is this something need to be aware of for future purpose?

It helps to put the filename in a google search.

I remember having this problem, I think you need to find a visual basic 6.0 runtime installer (from microsoft).

I got around it by using the defiler.net instead. now if I could just get my characters to transfer correctly from win2k to vista..i'll tackle that tomorrow though.

It says this in the readme:

9a)You may encounter problems with the installer correctly registering files and may encounter various messages stating that a *.dll or *.ocx file is missing.
To fix this issues you need to unregister the existing file that the program says is missing, most likely found in your c:\windows\system32 directory. After unregistering this file, register it again to fix the problem. I have now included a registry file that when added to the registry allows you to unregister and re-register the files needed by simply right-clicking on that file and selecting which you want to do. Any help with fixing this issue with the installer would be appreciated.

im confused... i downloaded defiler and cant see any characters to edit... how can i fix this?

Make sure that in the defiler settings it is pointing towards your saved character so that it can see them.

I get that all the time too. I assume it's either too many characters on the list, or a timeout trying to get the news (clicking on "Get News" clears it away). In any case, it doesn't seem to have any actual effect.
