Default holy moly

wow, i can't even find the npc i built how do you do it?!?! anyway pictures would definitely help!

anyway i did all the steps, but when i build the database and open up the editor i can't find my npc.

is it because of the directories? instead of resources i got the physical description from records..same thing? lol

also where can you move the files?? i just kept them where they got imported.

and lastly, do you have to fill up ALL of the string parts of the physcial description package?

1. Be sure you build your dbr file.
2. Used F7 Build! Important!
3. If your Editor was open close it and restart it. Only after restarting the
Editor the resources were updated.

if you attend these three points i should work every time.

After you edited your npc dbr file and building in Art Manager (your description seems normal to me, no red lines showing error during the build), you have to start the map editor and select your mod, after that create a region and when you click on the icon with two red crosses, you ll enter the "editor" mod where you can put monsters, items, etc, thats where you will find your npc.

I found it's easiest to move the files that I change to my own directory structure inside of the games directory structure. So the main game structure is something like Resources. Inside of resources I create MyNPC directory, then inside of this I have NPC, MONSTERS, etc So when I edit an NPC I then right click on it, and choose copy, then paste it into my "MyNPC/NPC" directory. Then I delete the original from the games original location. Then in the editor its real simple to find the NPC that I've just edited by only having to look in the MyNPC and associated folder instead of trying to find it in the games original folder structures. Of course you can do this however it suits you best.

What Kamidan said is the most logical method. The imported NPCs and monsters etc stay in that weird records-> structure soI simply go into WindowsExplorer and move a copy of the file into a more logical structure in my working directory (MyNPCs) and delete the whole records structure that the AM has created.

Right click on the ressources folder. Then choose 'new folder'

ok, i created a folder in the records folder in the database part of my mod. I moved the physical description and dialog (needed?). I built both files and also built the modstring file to make sure everything would work. When i check the editor i still can't find my npc. am i doing anything wrong?? maybe its how i edited it.

I imported the file from the records then renamed it then edited the dialog string parts to match with the ones in the modstring file. is that correct??
