Default Dream Mastery - Psionic Touch

Hi probably a silly question but I have searched the forum and can't find this info. In Dream Mastery is there a best weapon type to use? Blade/Bow/Staff etc? Also will Psionic Touch give it's bonus to a staff or bow, or only a hand wearpon (Blade/Spear) that makes physical contact?

1) are you playing dream only? If not what do you see as your second mastery.

Dream is very complete but I think it's more melee based. So a handweapon would be nice because it unlocks the Phantom Strike (1 point to start with and max the Dream Stealer first) skill.

I think Psionic Touch works for all weapons -> don't forget to assign it to your left mouse button though.

I found it better to have more attack speed with the splash electrical burn every fourth hit; it seemed to pay out better to have that effect more often than to have bigger hits less frequently. Though, if you've got your fourth hit charged, go for a phantom strike and switch to a heavy hitter on the way.

You are right in theory, but that electrical burn damage becomes pointless rather fast past normal.

About the OP: decide on a second mastery first, then decide what weapon type to use.

By that logic, everything becomes pointless past normal since enemies have lots of resistances. And does anyone play dream mastery past normal without trance of wrath?

No, not everything becomes pointless. The point is it only triggers on every 3rd attack, and if you use a fast weapon you need str or dex, not int. So the damage wont get higher, while monster HP will. If you use a staff you probably either use Ternion or you don't attack with your staff too much anyway, so it doesn't really matter. Plus I'm not even sure DOT effects scale with int...

ToW is good, but the other Trances are too. I don't use ToW with my Templar atm for example.

Psionic Touch doesn't seem to work for me. I put 3 points into it, +%45 attack damage but when I assigned it to the left mouse button my attack damage never went up. It took 3 hits with basic weapon attack to kill a jackel and it still took 3 hits with Psionic Touch.

It only triggers on every 4th hit, and the bonus is not shown on the char sheet.

What!? I didn't see in the description that it only had a 25% chance of activating or anything. I was under the impression that it should work for every hit. And indeed with every first hit that little icon in the upper left of my screen appeared.

How do I tell if its working?
