Default melee class help

I keep making failing characters. Here is what I would like - mele w/ a shield with a little magic spam for fun. I really enjoyed playing the Battlemage in Sacred, for example. Low maintenance please. Skill suggestions and attribute point placement would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Paladin/Juggernaut (Defense+Storm/Earth) should be your thing...

When it comes to stats, you have some a couple of choices.

STR/DEX 2:1, the standard melee setup, your spells will be weak though.
STR/INT 1:1, balanced physical and spell damage, you will have very low OA/DA though.
STR/DEX/INT 2:1:1, balance with focus on physical damage.
STR/DEX/INT 1:1:2, balance with focus on spell damage.
STR/DEX/INT 1:1:1, pure balance.

If you went with any of the INT routes, I recommend these builds:

TitanCalc by stonedonkey - A Titan Quest Calculator - Paladin

TitanCalc by stonedonkey - A Titan Quest Calculator - Juggernaut

I like the Juggernaut build you posted - which attribute setup would go best with that build? Also, I don't know what OA and DA mean? Thanks for helping.

OA, Offensive Ability: Your chance to hit and perform critical hits.
DA, Defensive Ability: Your chance to avoid being hit.

STR/DEX/INT 2:1:1 is my favorite setup for hybrids so, that one...

Last thing - is there a science or rule of thumb for putting points into the mastery vs into the skills? I'll probably start w/ Earth(funner) - at what point do you start adding in Defense? You've really helped - thanks again!

No there isn't.

I usually wait until level ~15 before utilising my second mastery.

My son (he's 5) will be sad that we don't have the "Chunky the Lava Man" (Core Dweller)

If I chose to use a Core Dweller, where would you take the points from, and how many could be spared?

Anywhere. Volcanic Orb seems like the best place...

Max: Summon Core Dweller, Inner Fire and Metamorphosis.
1: Wildfire
