Jeez - I finished BGII (plus expansion) with 11 different groups (using multi-player but importing only my own characters). I think I tried every combo of character class/alignment/npcs etc., and saw all the sidequests and dialog. But, I can barely remember how AD&D 2nd Ed. worked anymore!
Refresh me a bit - you're a human and multi-classing? What are you getting out of Mage, just Shield and Mage Armor or more? Not sure what in TQ would represent that - maybe one of the Trances or perhaps Heat Shield/Ring of Flame (mainly Soften Metal though). (A weak Volcanic Orb could be your Magic Missile). I'm unfamiliar with Baldur's Gate. Could someone please enlighten me what berserker mages are like in it?

If it's like D&D (and i'm assuming it is...)
a berserker/mage is a character who is "multiclassing". this means they've selected one class to start with (ie: berserker) then picked a second class later (ie: mage) to get a wider range of abilities if Baldur's Gate is REALLY like D&D, this character is both a fast melee fighter and can cast arcane spells. however, i'm wondering how effective this would be since armor increases spell failure chance...

The Mage Armor acts like medium armor (a chainshirt perhaps?) except it's totally non-encumbring, so the Berserker can still get any bonuses that require him to be unarmored. The Shield spell acts like (wait for it....) ... a shield. Again, it's only mystical, not physical, so the Berserker can use it and still wield two weapons (or more likely, one BIG two-handed weapon). The question is, did the character stay a Mage past first level and pick up any additional spells? That would go a long way towards revealing his TQ class. |

Pfft, straight Druid is better. If you take Rogue levels you loose out on caster levels which is a definite no-no if you're playing a full caster. Of course ,taking Spellcasting Prodigy will help you out a bit but you won't get the extra spell levels you would otherwise.

Either Battle Mage (that's war/earth, right?) or Harbinger.
Battle Mage for what I_Raps mentioned. Harbinger if the mage class has level 3 spells (like level 5? or something like that). You'll have trances for shield/magic armor, and phantom strike for invisibility.
