Weird Drops

I've been farming Hades and Hydra for awhile now and noticed that on several occasions that the same purples will drop as part of a group. IE

run 1 3 purples
run 2 nothing
run 3 nothing
run 4 same 3 purples are run 1
run 5 nothing
run 6 nothing
run 7 same 3 purples as run 1


Has anyone had this happen to them. Its happened to me twice.

Same here. It looks like the drops aren't completly random.

well that sucks a hell of a lot. You'd think at least the main bosses would be able to drop anything at all.

That's what I thought until I started getting the same #$%# over and over and over...starts to take the fun out of farming

I have done alot of farming myself, and while I do get the same items over and over, the one run you do where you get a brand new never found before item keeps you going back for more.
As an example: I have done over a hundred secret passage runs, and must have found 10 complete sets of both the Santa set and the Blackbeard set, but I have never completed the Sherlock Holmes set...Wanting to finish that set is keeping me going back.
Or lets say I do 10 secret passage runs in one night, I will get 4-5 Santa chest slot drops but it is the other drops that keep me going back, like the 1 Deimos, or the 1 Pagos that I get.( awesome sword by the way! My 44 assassin loves it )

Have done a pretty extreme amount of Hades runs myself, and have come to the following conclusion. Drops are random, BUT some items have a much higher chance of dropping than others do from certain bosses. Therefore bosses like Hades will drop the same kind of items over and over, before you get that really really rare piece of ubergear you want.

Dunno if I'm right about this, but thats what my first hand experience with it tells me.

I agree with the Divine Lord.

Drops are definately random when spread out over the course of a few games, but certain bosses are more likely to drop certain things, or not.

Have a look for the thread about Arcane Formula farming, you will see there that certain formulas are dropped more by certain bosses than others.

The same logic applies to the chests and monster drops themselves, farming Polyphemus for a spear is a bad idea

Same here :

4 Eidolon Shells
4 Battlemage circlets (not a single other battlemage item)
3 Leatherskin Shield
3 Rhesus Whitewashed armor
3 Dreamweaver's Vestment (no other item from that set)

Some items do indeed seem to drop a lot more than others. Most of the items above dropped from different bosses and chests though.
